Great British Railway Journeys 13 Years, 3 Months ago
Did anybody watch this 25-parter which ended last Friday? I though Michael Portillo came across as a genuinely nice guy. The series was beautifully filmed. It didn’t really cover the history of the railway, but of our national heritage, including what had happened to the businesses that grew up around the railway lines, when they were built in Victorian times.
If they repeat the series, take a look. It was a fascinating insight into what a wonderful countryside we actually have.

It did not do what it said on the tin though it was not uninteresting. More a history of the towns along the way than the actual railways or and motive power. I really do enjoy these sort of programs.
I hope they repeat 7 industrial wonders of the world.

I enjoyed this series too. Interesting and charming in equal measure and I agree that Michael Portillo came across as a much nicer person than he seemed when he was being a politician.
