Slightly dissapointing adaption of the booker prize winning book. The story meanders along without really saying anything, and there are some very unbelievelabe scenes in the film. I can see why it didn't get any bafta nominations, as there are better films out there.
It's my favourite novel of the century so far but the beauty of it is the slowly creeping suspicion that all is not right; I gather they ruin that by telling us in the first few minutes. I may give it a miss as I adored the book.
I want to read the book at least one more time before I see the film.
I have very strong visual images of the characters, especially Tommy. I read an interview with Ishiguro the other day where he says that the actor who plays Tommy in the film doesn't look at all like what he (Ishiguro) concieved him as.
