Re:All over for Gaddafi - France recognises new rebel Government 13 Years, 2 Months ago
I'm fed up of westerners thinking they can interfere in the governments of others.
After the Bush Blair fiascos the Yanks can't afford another war,so they secretely fund opposition movements to overthrow governments like Gadaffi they don't like.

Asia will take over world domination this century, and it will be a much happier world because of it.

Even if some force is used it does not mean the end of Gadaffi.
All that will happen is that in the short term the rebels will have help to consolodate their remaining territory.

The OP that it's all over for Gaddafi is still a long way from fact. And in the next few days expect more Gadaffi gains.Gadaffi keeps the oil,the westy subsidises a bunch of sand dune dwellers. No lesson learnt from Iraq.

As for being 'All over for Gaddafi' you rather jumped the gun there, leaving us all wondering, just how much you really know about this situation ? You certainly do not appear to have any 'local' sources of knowledge

Rather alot of knowledge (and understanding) it would seem !

Everything that I said would happen has happened - from the SAS being "on the ground" last Tuesday (to supply co-ordinates for the bombing) to the correct timing of the UN resolution (and whereas the media were talking of no-fly zones, I correctly said the resolution would authorise bombing of Libya) !

I also said that after France had recognised the new government everyone else would follow suit. As the UN has effectively told the world to "remove" Gaddafi, it would seem that I was right (again)! The media have also begun talking of the Gaddafi "regime" rather than the Gaddafi government.

"We'll fight to the end" Gaddafi has now bowed to pressure ard says he will not fight on - hoping (against hope) that he can desperately "hang on" to the bits of Libya that he has left - with no more arms, no oil sales, no cincome, all assets frozen.

The remainder of his "support" will drift away with days (now they see they are definately on the losing side).

"local knowledge"? LOL !

What if the people of Libya don't want Gaddafi to step down? (serious question) - Operation Odyssey Dawn is a disgrace, IMHO. Blatant regime change! Nothing to do with freedom of democracy.

You must be desperate to impress your lack of friends if you need to activate a thread 5 months old

You're absolutely right ITK; we can hear the sound of you changing your position from "Gaddafi will go in days" to - 5 months later "I said he'd go within days"!!!

5 months, and with NATO backing, not exactly the quick response u promised,as JK pointed out.

It's a lot easier to fight NATO as a guerrilla campaign, and that takes on a mind of its own,a la Iraq.
Nobody changed position,we just said Gadaffi would not be easy to remove, and that has proved exactly right.

You've put your finger on ITK's psychosis, IA. The resurrection of so many ancient threads is an indicator of a particularly sad need to "prove" that his/her position has been right all along. Which it hasn't, of course. ITK predicted 5 months ago that Gaddafi would go "within days". Well he didn't, and he still hasn't. And no matter how much ITK attempts to muddy the waters by strawmen, nothing changes the fact that we all know he will fall {because he has NATO deployed against him}, yet still the persistent line is that posters here "support" the regime {still extant} in Libya. Interestingly, there are many parallels between this more contemporary events... the "support" we've all been giving to the rioters of recent days or the "support" we "all" give to "scroungers" {who "should be shot" after 6 months on the dole}- a veritable chorus of attempts to blacken the reputations of just about every other user of this board for the heinous sin of failing to follow the ITK way of ru{i}nning the country. In this, as in almost every other thread he/she has graced with his/her presence, ITK continues a lone campaign of conflict with almost every fellow boarder at KoH. One has, I humbly beg to submit, to wonder why.

Can I point you to this post, JK ?

"The government always planned a six month campaign (and the "costs" announced last week were for the entire six months).

But I'm glad that we did this properly, and avoided unneccesary civilian deaths (the Yanks would have just blown the place apart). Aren't you pleased also?"
