When you think she was first reported close to death fifty years ago - what a fighter.

Whenever one of these "icons" or "legends" dies ... one thought strikes me - I don't think I've ever seen any of her films.

Perhaps I'm too young .............

I don't think I have seen any of her films either. As far as I'm aware, she hasn't made any in the last 30 or so years. I am of course aware of Cleopatra and "Whos afraid of virginia wolf". Most of the tributes refer to her beauty and glamour, rather than her acting.

The thing I most know her for are her relationship with Richard Burton and her friendship with Michael Jackson.

She was a very good actress - A Place in the Sun, Suddenly Last Summer, Butterfield 8, Virginia Woolf, etc. She worked on well into the 1990s (there was a decent role in Carrie Fisher's very camp comedy These Old Broads, with Taylor, Joan Collins, Debbie Reynolds and Shirley MacLaine). I'm a bit surprised she was only 78. She seems to have been a 'veteran' for decades.

I just found out that one of my teachers is a massive fan of Elizabeth Taylor. Her last movie was in 2001.

Funnily enough, though she was clearly a star with terrific charisma (and also, I gather from those who knew her, very nice and down to earth) I never thought she was that attractive. A bit "common". As opposed to Jean Simmons who I thought was similar but far more beautiful and classy.
Thank heavens we all have different tastes.
And I did think she was terrific in Cleopatra (which I loved).

said by Marlon Brando who screwed him- to have a little dick. I thought you should know that.

I was taken to Liz's 50th birthday party at Legends in London by the show-biz editor of the Express.

Richard Burton was drunk and abused me -he thought I was the DJ and the music was too loud.

Never got to meet the great lady herself though but from a short distance she was petite..beautiful..charismatic.
A real star when there are so few left. I was in awe. When I left the paparazzi asked if I was family.
