Actually, they do ... but they ignore the obvious when it suits them. There were happy to let it be a local Civil War when their thought the rebels might win.

They gambling, but now the world knows that things have gone too far to back off, and some of the main players on the game are regretting their decisions.

Army destroyed (which is why he is hiding behind civilians) - air force destroyed (lasted about 2 days didn't it?) the so-called navy dare not leave port (our subs are waiting).

The remnants are hiding in the cities (Ajdabiya only had 3 Gaddafi tanks well hidden in the suburbs but we could not attack them for fear of hitting civilians). The SAS will take care of the remnants.
