is tabloid criminality irrelevent ! 13 Years ago
so we have a huge media organisation that has indulged in a criminal conspiracy - hacking into MP's, Ministers of The Crown, Royal Family's and celebrities phones (including those who have been the subject of tragedies like the McCanns).

Yet the government sees no problem with this same organisation taking over BSkyB in full giving it extraordinary media dominance.

This organisation has admitted bribing police ( Rebeccah Wade's evidence to an enquiry) and persistently denied any knowledge of this conspiracy when it becomes more and more apparent they had full knowledge- they have just 'discovered' thousands of emails they previously told an enquiry they "could not locate"

There is soooo much more to be revealed..did NoTW legal advisers know about these emails and the activities of the recently arrested journos (lawyers by law cannot assist in concealing a crime)..how high up did it go ?

Where the Royal correspondent and PI jailed given juicy contracts after their sentence in order to silence them ?. (A senior copper in the first enquiry is given a News Corp contract as a 'columnist").

note : James Murdoch is suddenly removed from the UK to run the US News Corp operations...heads are being prepared to roll..John Prescott is correct- allowing this takeover is a travesty when it's not known the full extent of this conspiracy.

This is the moment when politicians could crush the ghastly influence of tabloids once and for all and turn journalism and newspaper publishing back into an honest and important facet of democracy.

Funny thing but Prescott had no problems with Murdoch when he supported them!

Overall well pointed out Veritas, there is more of this to come out,if anyone is brave enough to publish.

The extraordinary new element in the world is the Internet.
Because of this regimes fall and the world changes; but also the all powerful tycoons cease to become all powerful when the public speak out.

Which is not necessarily a good thing; like democracy, the voice of the majority may not always be wise.

But it does mean that lack of responsibility and the motive GREED can now be exposed by the little man.

I think The Guardian is doing a good job on this and can't give up now. Nor will the New York Times..both smell blood and Murdoch has been too aggressive with his Fox News etc in attacking his rivals. It's time for revenge.

JK is right-all these pollies were happy to go along for the ride and use these ghastly tabloids but they also knew they could be made and broken by Murdoch. Again they should seize the moment and diminish his un-democratic hold on power.

It's now or never. I've always said some scandal will come along to sink Murdoch and this is it-he's played fast and loose for too long. The Chinese took him for a ride ..got a $5OM deposit for talks on him owning cable TV in China then rejected him and told him it was a 'non-refundable' deposit. They hold Murdoch in complete contempt.

We don't know where the internet is taking us though ! . I've noted that Mudoch's top selling Aussie tabloid has changed it's name to
www.dailytelegraph.com.au/
on it's website and on the print version. Murdoch is behind a drive in the US to control the internet..I reckon he went too far and there is far more afoot in this than just phone hacking.

He also destroyed the PMship of Kevin Rudd in Australia within 2 years of him being the most popular elected PM in history...the knives are out for Rupert. Even the general public in Oz have truned on him.
