Had (more) than enough of the "royal wedding" yet ? 13 Years ago
This cynical family - they are already planning Betty's 60th next year, and probably Harry's wedding the year after - completely take over the TV screens this week.

On the day itself (when I will be anywhere except near a TV screen) BBC gives us "coverage" from 8am - 1.40pm, then from 2.10pm - 4.00pm, and just in case you missed it, further "highlights" from 8.30pm - 10.00pm

ITV merely gives us just 7and a half hours coverage from 8.30am - 4.05pm !!!!

If you thought that was all ....Come Dine With Me Royal Wedding Special (I kid you not !) on C4 at 8pm, and then on the same channel at 10.25pm there's "My Big Fat Royal Gypsy Wedding" !!!!!!

(Personally I'd recommend the series of Roy Orbison shows on BBC Four !)

As if that were not enough we have "Blue Peter Royal Wedding specials" and Royal Wedding Gatecrashers on C4 at 11pm on Thursday (plus Big Fat Royal etc again at 9pm), William & Kate - In Their Own Words (they can actually speak??? More than you can say of the Queen Mother) at 7.30pm ITV again thursday; William & Kate - Romance and the Royals (at 9pm Wednesday), When Kate Met William at 9pm (ITV) on Wednesday (and not to be left out Countrywise, at 8pm ITV goes to Anglesey, where Wills "works" and does a feature on royal wedding rings !!!!). Also on Wednesday, Giles & Sue's Royal Wedding (BBC2 at 8.00pm)

Then there's William & Kate - A Royal Wedding on Easter Monday (BBC1) at 8.30pm (plus the Royal Wedding Crashers again on C4 at 10.30pm), plus Britain's Royal Weddings (BBC1 9pm Sunday), and tonight (Sat) - just in case you are suicidal as you missed it first time round, a repeat of "Meet The Middletons" on C4 at 8pm !!!!

Ooops, almost forgot to mention William & Kate - The Story So Far on C5 at 8pm Tuesday, and the villagers in Emmerdale will celebrate the Royal Wedding with a quiz on Friday - 7.00pm ITV) !

If TV is all you have to gripe about, then maybe you should get out more. Some of us are enjoying the occasion. There is plenty other stuff to keep the moaners occupied, if they make an effort.

no I'm not sick of it but then we don't get it shoved down our throats in Oz !

Intellectually I know it's all a fantasy and that a republic is the right way but emotionally- I'm a Royalist !

What's the alternative ?..some ghastly president and Peter Andre and whoever his current flame is elevated to show biz royalty !

besides-no-one does pomp and ceremoney better than the Brits and purely from a show biz angle- it's unqiue !

( we had a street party in my little mews St in '77 and I wore a Union Jack suit !)

'No 'halt' to fighting in Misrata'

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-13179837

Actually Misrata has been in rebel hands all along.A ceasefire was agreed, but as with all things Libyan it was just declared to confuse posters on this forum

Stick to the healthy walks, much better for mind and body than complex Arabic civil wars.

I'm gatecrashing David Cameron's street-party in Downing Street ! (I doubt anyone will see one anywhere else - but the media will "find one" and proclaim that the entire country is holding one !

PS - veritas, suggest you get a book (its in Waterstones) called "William take Kate Up The Aisle" - hilarious ! Full of mock-up pics and lookalikes.

Itk I have an answer to all your woes. Move north of the border, we don't give a hoot, it's all terribly English you see, but we'll take the day off thank you very much!

But they also pretend to be Scottish don't they? They (apparently) love highland flings - and never miss an opportunity to wear frocks (esp the men !)
