Tunisia 13 Years ago
Buried away in The Times during the week was an interesting piece about life in Tunisia since the Jasmine Revolution - life has hardly changed and only for the worse. No tourists, less money, conditions declining - all exactly as we expected.

Ben Ali may have had his faults - like Gaddafi and Mubarak and Assad and the others - indeed, I'm sure their records on civil liberties are very bad. But they also had advantages; whilst they squirrelled away personal wealth, life was reasonably well run.

Without them - less corruption, perhaps, and also less efficiency.

For the average citizen; life is worse, not better. And will be for some time until the system improves and, naturally, corruption starts to increase again... followed by another revolution.

When will they ever learn?

sorry..can't agree. Staying with the status quo because it's easier. It never happens.

We've seen these ideal places come and go all our lives. Asia has been a great palce to visit for the past 20 years..now well ont he way to being fucked up albeit not by war but western influences.

I have a sneaky feeling Tunisia will become a great place again soon...they'll be begging for your tourists dollar.

it's all they have isn't it ?..tourism?
