Tomlinson "unlawfully killed" by Metrolpitan police officer - inquest jury 13 Years ago
What a shocking state of affairs.
The police manage to find the ONLY person not taking part in the demonstrations
- and killed him.

Worse still, they then tried to blame him for the death, and smear him - even employing a very dodgy pathologist to come up with the "explanation (for the death)" that they wanted.

Not enough evidence ? Over to you CPS !!!!

Wonderful news today - I'm slightly biased having had the Police 'rape' (that's for you 'The Guardian'!) my cat, home and livlihood but a fair verdict and pretty surprising. Incidently I've still not received my clearence letter from the Police despite asking for it. They claim they have sent it 3 times but Royal Mail are not that bad!!!

Be nice to receive an apology for the public shame of having them 'rape' my home and ruin some of my prize belongings (why tip water on photos? There was no water anywhere other than the taps). The Police are a spiteful bunch and being in the Thames Valley their idiotic attitude can be seen in TV show 'Road Wars'.

it's a sorry tale but I have some sympathy for the copper involved as he clearly acted within a culture that tolerated his behaviour and that is shown by the tawdry cover-up style enquiry including the original suspect coroner.

This should lead to full Parliamentary enquiry into how the bosses..always the beginning of a downwards rotting systmem operate.

Will that happen ?..doubtful..a new government beholden to their masters ( media) who had to be dragged screaming to do something about the illegal bugging of citizens and MPs.

The Tomlinsons must sue sue and sue everyone they can.

PS : remember Osama's other 'victim'..innocent Brazillian electrician going to work on the Tube.

I think this might be a major change - at last, personal accountability for mistakes, whether deliberate or accidental. Police are the start; lawyers, jurors, judges, CPS...

Who killed Sally Clark?

Anyone see former Met Ass Commissioner Padget on Breakfast this morning ?

He admitted that the Tactical Support Group has a "gang culture" - lets not forget that this unit replaced the discreditted (and disbanded) Special Patrol Group.

It seems to me that the public are in as much danger from this gung-ho, psyched-up unit as from any football mob.

Why were the SPG disbanded?
Oh ... they killed a protestor ! (Blair Peach).

What gets me is the fact that the metropolitan police routinely have covered up these cases and deliberately lied, as well as slandering the victims (no cctvs in the area, the police were under a hail of missiles when trying to save his life, Tomlinson was an alcoholic Millwall supporting hooligan etc).

There's always going to be bad apples, but I find it most disturbing that the media aren't talking about the attempted coverups involved in cases like this and the de Menez tube shooting.

The Metropolitan Police says that it shows all of their members are accountable. It seems like this individual thug has been made a scapegoat and the liers and perverters of justice at the top are getting off scott free.

By the way, where is BR? Did he announce his departure? I think we've probably reached the point where those who annoy the police too much could simply disappear without a trace (if the police are confident it wouldn't be noticed).

It is a matter of concern that only one officer who saw Ian Tomlinson pushed over at the G20 protests wrote it up in a log, the police watchdog says.

A report by the IPCC also said it was "reckless" that an officer incorrectly told a pathologist the newspaper seller fell in front of a police van.

But it found no evidence of any attempt to cover up Mr Tomlinson's death at the protests in London on 1 April 2009.

The Met welcomed the findings and lack of evidence over misconduct claims.

Do we sense (yet another) cover-up coming along ?
