Listening to Ken Clarke it would appear JK is right...plead guilty and you'll get a discount. What of course wasn't discussed is false accusations, but it's never covered on programmes like this. Do we now live in a state where you are guilty until proven innocent? I believe the answer is 'yes'. Politicians aren't interested in justice...only votes and appeasing the huddled masses and the media. Terrifying.

I found this so disturbing I switched off after ten minutes and went to sleep; it was never even considered that sometimes people were innocent. Not one second of doubt in our superb police, great legal system, marvellous media. I saw lots of white rabbits looking at their watches and no reality at all.

another example of the UK going the way of the USA a process speeded up by the great Labour phoney T.Blair.

basically this is 'plea bargaining' one of the most odious and abused US legal concepts.

Indeed JK. I now believe all my faith in politicians is dead. What I find even more sickening is that both Straw and Clarke are not stupid men.They are well aware of the injustices but daren't speak out. Good god, we need someone in power who will give us truth instead of all this bullshit. I am completely on your side sir.

It's all our fault. We in the media - unelected, irresponsible, just looking for a headline - have brought simplistic slogan morality into politics and the weak and feeble power lovers dare not cross us.
