Levi Bellfield... 12 Years, 10 Months ago
Milly Dowler's alleged killer , was "not his jolly self" according to a friend Malcolm Ward in the Old Bailey, the day after Milly was killed.
"Jolly nasty", I suspect his victims would have said.
That is - if he had any.
Sorry to be so cynical, but these days, knowing how the bent, corrupt, lazy and incompetent police tend to work, I get very suspicious when the accused turns out to be serving life in prison for other murders anyway.
It is so easy to get those precious convictions and close those nasty cases (like who killed Jill Dando) that a few people notice remain unsolved despite dodgy cop activity.
By setting up an already convicted person.
Nobody has anything to lose (except the future victims of the still-at-large murderer, of course).

Mr King.

It is of course true that there are many cases of injustice within our country. That said, there are many of our uniformed lads & lasses who play the game with a straight bat.

A friend of mine is on the cusp of leaving the force. She did her time as a PSCO before getting into the regular force. In the few years that she has 'plodded' the street of the very cultural city of Liverpool, she has been threatened, hit, spat upon, had things thrown at her and endured endless barrages of insults by the dregs of society.

She is not interested in arrest rates or clearing the books, she is somewhat idealistic & wants to protect the law abiding citizens from thugs, burglars, robbers & ne'er-do-wells. However, she is becoming disenchanted by the CPS's reluctance to prosecute & the bleeding hearts that want to give recidivists 'another' chance.

Is Mr Bellfield guilty of Milly Dowlers murder? Only he knows that but one thing is for sure, he is a cold, vicious killer who deserves never to be released regardless of other crimes he may or may not be guilty of.

Hang on Mug; explain to me - if he's NOT guilty of the other crimes, why is he a killer?

Now now Mr K, no need to split hairs.

I have no doubt that he is a killer & is paying the price for those deeds. Of course, in his position one would assume that he has nothing to lose & would admit to his latest accusation. However, our old friend, the Court of Human Rights is now in action to decide whether his indeterminable sentence breaches his human rights (poor dear).

Not splitting hairs Mug; I admit it's strange he's not simply pleaded guilty (and been oddly granted enhanced status and bonuses in jail) but if he didn't commit the crimes he was convicted for, let alone the murder of Milly, then he's not a killer, poor dear, and doesn't deserve any of this.

You know we once had a totally doolally judge called Lord Denning. That old bastard (I don't like to swear but he was), suggested that it was wrong to investigate the Birmingham Six's incarceration, even if they were innocent, as they turned out later to be.

This is what he said:

"Just consider the course of events if their action were to proceed to trial ... If the six men failed it would mean that much time and money and worry would have been expended by many people to no good purpose. If they won, it would mean that the police were guilty of perjury; that they were guilty of violence and threats; that the confessions were involuntary and improperly admitted in evidence; and that the convictions were erroneous. ... That was such an appalling vista that every sensible person would say, "It cannot be right that these actions should go any further."

Basically the Judiciary through Denning was saying - it's OK to be a bent Police Officer.

Is it still OK to be a bent Police Officer?
