Funnily enough I really didn't enjoy the first 50 pages and then it hooked me and I loved it.
I prefer reading Hardbacks when novels first come out but recently I've been enjoying paperbacks that I always meant to read (Mark Haddon) and I have always liked McEwan as a writer. This is a fascinating hook of a book.
There is one major incident I don't understand. I won't mention it here (spoiler) but I intend to write Ian to ask him!
