If he did kill Milly, the big question (conveniently avoided by the smoke screen of "victims rights") is - accountability by those police who failed to arrest him nine years earlier and allowed him to go on killing girls.

Surely those officers in charge should be exposed, disciplined, fired and possibly even prosecuted?

It looks like a Keystone Kops scenario of incompetence which would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. But the media seems to avoid looking at the obvious. Those police basically helped murder those other innocent girls. That's the real, big story - plus "how is it the tabloids don't say this?".

You'll notice Mark Rowley, the Chief Constable of Surrey Police, is "upset and embarrassed" by the way the family was treated in court. Wonder if he's "upset and embarrassed" by the way his force failed to stop Belfield killing other girls?

Levi Belfield appears to be the big fat face of evil that the media has adopted and the police follow suit. I'm not convinced at all that he killed Milly Dowler. This seems like another case of the cap fits quite nicely thankyou, and he's a tabloid monster, so we've got the dimwit public on our side.

I hope there is a full enquiry about the police failings in this case.
It seems to be every high profile case these days where there is some sort of balls up by the police, whether it be arresting the wrong person, overlooking evidence, general incompetence or corruption.
I think we need another police force to police the police.
What happened to good old detective work and investigations? Seems there is too much emphasis based on DNA evidence these days which the police and CPS insist is flawless.
As with lots of things these days it's all about being seen to be doing something, and the police in many cases have no regard for whose lives they wreck as long as they get convictions regardless of whether or not a person is innocent or guilty.

We have the Independent (stop laughing !) Police Complaints Commission (all staffed by ex-coppers) to do that LOL !
