....(but also very funny !)

There is absolutely nothing funny about this story.

I would guess that a lot of the people who post on this board have some things in common with this man - mid 50's and a music lover anyone? He went to Glastonbury with his wife and ended up dead, very sad indeed.

The conspiracy theorists will have a field day over this if the pathologist doesn't rule it "natural causes" and do it soon. I have no problem with anyone speculating about the circumstances of this death but please respect the fact that this is someone who appears to have done nothing wrong and has left behind a grieving family. It is not funny.

No?

I meant funny as in "Elvis died on the toilet, trying to part with one of his fried peanut butter sandwiches".

How can anyone take him seriously after that ???!!

Maybe because he was the King - highly talented, versatile and the most successful musical artist of all time?

ITK - Deaths occurring while in a toilet are not that uncommon. However the joy of toilet humour among those with a lack of intellect is a much more frequent occurrence.

On what basis ?

Because he never wrote any songs but had his name on them (otherwise he wouldn't record them)?

On the basis of the number of dire films he made?

Or simply because he had very little competition?

Let's be honest ... Elvis "died" in 1957, didn't he?

George Formby was the biggest box office attraction in the UK for 5 years (believe it or not !). No (real) competition see.

I suppose it depends on whether you've just had a deep-fried peanut butter sandwich or not !

How do you know that toilet humour is not favoured by the intelligensia ?

... or the fact that Wayne Wooney was staying nearby ?

Enough to make anyone commit suicide I would have thought.

(Before you ask - "Festival chief Michael Eavis initially said he had been told the death was a "suicide situation" but a police source later said it was not thought Mr Shale had killed himself". from news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Glasto...hales_Cause_Of_Death

Die young and leave a good looking corpse, unfortunately neither Elvis or this chap did either.
Elvis was the first rock n roller 2 break into the big time, and of course had a wonderful voice, but as said above he played on that fact for the next 30 years.
Toilet humor, simply a different way of taking the p!ss

A very sad story, however in his mid-50s he was far too old to be going to Glastonbury.

...had a wonderful voice....played on that fact for the next 30 years.

Unfortunately it was closer to 20 years than 30 but because of that voice and his stage presence Elvis is one of the all time greats.

He came from an era when songwriting was not expected from a singer. In my opinion Elvis and Sinatra are still the two best popular music singers and yes neither wrote their own material.

Of course they both had great stage presence, but come the 60s you had to write your own material too...shacking up with 14 yo girls was somehow also overlooked in his case, unlike Jerry.

didn't like either of them at the time but watching videos and listening to their music now you realise how unique they were.
