TOPIC: Coulson and Wade paid police

Coulson and Wade paid police 12 Years, 10 Months ago
Now we see evidence of something we all knew - media pays police for information. So what's wrong with that? Well it inspires lies and false allegations - as in my case - which then leads to miscarriages of justice and wrongful convictions - as in my case. Media get GREAT STORIES (fake); police get increased conviction rates ("OK you can have more money then"); judges get interesting and dramatic cases ("so it's worth paying for more judges and lawyers and clerks"); prisons get more money to lock more people up (tabloids scream LOCK PEOPLE UP so we don't notice how our tax monies are wasted)... Alice, where's the Mad Hatter?

That relationship with some police has been going on since at least the 1950s, so the hypocritical show of 'surprise' within the broader media today is shameless.

Greetings Boarders! Have I got this right?

I freely admit I am very new to this, have not been paying attention to the news, and may have missed much relevant detail.

Despite displays of outrage that the sleazy News of the World may have been paying the police, the police appear to be taking money quite openly from a host of private organizations. The Child Exploitation and On-line Protection Cetre appears to be a public body composed primarily of police officers and part of the overall police function, yet openly invites contributions and boasts of a long list of private "partners".

Just in passing, what, precisely, is a "partner" in this context? Is News of the World a partner of the police? Am I, if I report a crime? "Partner" feels like a political euphemism in need of translation. Would "briber" be an accurate substitute?

1. Other organizations that give money to the police, judging by the logos on ceop.police.uk:
Microsoft
NSPCC
Serco
Visa
Paypal
Virgin Media
Vodaphone
ACS
Crimestoppers
World-check
Becta
BT
Google
Detica
FSI
IM Intuitive Media
Child Protection Agency

2. Is CEOP part of the police? Notice the URL: ceop is a subdomain of police.uk. Notice, also, the redirect: www.ceop.org.uk redirects to ceop.police.uk

4. CEOP is made up of police officers. "CEOP is made up of police officers with specialist experience of tracking and prosecuting sex offenders working with people from organisations including the NSPCC and Childnet, Microsoft and AOL." --en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_Exploitation...ne_Protection_Centre

5. CEOP has police powers. Public private blur: "CEOP combines police powers with expertise from the business sector, government, specialist charities and other interested organisations." (ibid)

6. You too could give money to the police: www.ceop.police.uk/partnerships/

Best Wishes, Jim

I though CEOPs had been amalgamated within the force and that's why Mr Gamble took his bat and ball and went home.

He was an odd person though..who else would have the McCanns-as tragic as their situation is but undoubtedly guilty of serious child neglect- lecture other police on child safety ?
