I come here because it's fun, informative and generally one can debate without it being personal but when someone insults I respond and then withdraw.

nothing has come "everybody" as far as I can see but it only takes one person to spoil that fun.

My mailbox is full of people who won't even post here anymore.

I apologise; the general view seems that nobody considers good manners and polite debate matter. Or, rather, they can be rude but others can't.

Agreed. Today has seen the rudest and most ridiculous playground insults I've seen on here. Ever.

My post regardging "Are we adults" on another thread reflected my feeling that at times this blatant lack of respect is truly mind-boggling.

I don't agree with many opinions expressed on here (Libya a prime example) but I don't feel the need to call those with different opinions "silly little twerps" or other juvenile names. But it's up to you all - if you feel it's the way to behave and enjoy reading discussion which dribbles down into personal insults, that's your privilege. Bores me to tears and makes me wonder about those who cannot disagree without behaving like children. But there we go.

It's a well known troll behaviour pattern JK - if they can't get on the board any other way, they start insulting posters who flounce off in a huff. Pay no attention, keep on deleting and closing offensive threads; genuine posters won't mind.

I think the problem is this forum being so small and having the same faces in it for a long, long time. Perhaps it's a case of familiarity breeding contempt?

But I get on with everybody I think and don't call people names, when you start doing that, you've lost the argument big style.

Personally, I think using the "F" word to show how tough you are and push others around is too much. You need to take a look at yourself.

To be blunt it looks like one rule for one poster, a very different one for everyone else. That, I think, is a more accurate assessment of "the general view".

I think it's too easy to hide behind anonymity in places like this. I raised the issue once stressing in a thoughtful way that I would like to know a little bit about fellow posters. Stuff like how they came by here. Or the like.

Someone was polite - think it was Robbie - but the general response was jokes at the fact that my name was probably not Barn. Hilarious.

I stand by it though. Several posters regularly share these'amazing' experiences they have had and conflict that with childish behaviour.

I certainly appreciate that some people here have valid reasons to be COMPLETELY anonymous. That is fine.

Others. Perhaps just not bold enough to share, even, your interest in being here.
