So he was actually 18 at the time of the offences, with a mental age of 12, and the girls were
mainly 14 and 15, who considered him their boyfriend (so I don't know where the 'little short of rape' comes in to it.

Even now, when paedohysteria has been exported to nearly every part of the world, an 18 year old having sex with 14 and 15 year olds wouldn't even raise an eyebrow anywhere apart from a handful of places like here and the US. This case was only a news story because the press and the government wanted a pedo story the same week as the EU ruling over sex offenders.

And why does the entire child abuse industry keep repeating to the victims over and over again that their entire lives will be destroyed? Dohhhh...if you're in a position of authority over impressionable young adolescents, and you keep telling them they will be damaged for life, guess what? They will be damaged for life. 40 year old women can have sex with 14 year old boys and she's a sexy miss breaking in the lucky young boy, yet now immagture teenage boys having sex with girls a few years younger are held up as paedophile monsters and the girls will be destroyed for life, oh yes they will. (But as soon as they reach 18 they can become slut walkers and march for their right not for evil patriarchal men to tell them that sex has any significance).

Knowone more than people on this site are interested in 'paedo' stories. Half the posts on here are regarding child abuse or other sexual offences.

For obvious reasons Robbie - the prurience of the public at large though is harder to explain and difficult to understand.

I don't know how you can defend this man, he plied young girls, some as young as 11 with drugs and alcohol and then sexually abused them in his house, against their will. He possibly abused more than 139 girls. this is not acceptable behaviour against adults let alone children.

Well the accounts seems strangely inconsistant. On the one hand the girls saw him as their boyfriend and 'felt they were in love with him', on the other hand he was sexually assaulting them against their will.

I'm not particularly defending him - he's clearly a very unsavoury character. What I'm objecting to is the hysterical coverage of the story, presenting a teenage boy with a mental age of 12 as a paedophile monster.

This was a mentally retarded teenage drug addict having sex with other young cannabis users. But the British public must have their paedo stories...especially the week the police needed to whip up a hysteria over the EU sex offender ruling.

And the main point is the media, police and judicial system of inflating, colouring, exaggerating every detail in order to get "a better story".
The truth is probably a sad and confused story of muddle, misunderstanding and mistakes.

No, try reading the articles again a bit more slowly. The Daily Mail article states that when he was asessed after being arrested, he was found to have a mental age of 12 or 13.

Police, lawyers, judges, media, tell you as an adolescent girl that your boyfriend is an evil paeodphile, that you must testify against him in court so he goes to prison, that you have been abused, that you have to undergo therapy and your entire life has been destroyed, and on top of all this, you read about all this in the newspapers.

When you say "all of them"..how many where there ?.

Reading the reports they are highly inaccurate as the headlines scream "139 victims" yet on closer examination there is absolutely nil proof of this claim and if there were...it would have been presented to the court (the police cannot ignore a crime..except those committed by the NoTW).

Yet again it's police PR saying afterwards etc etc blah blah yadda yadda..crime of century solved by us, evil pedo off the street so increase out budget and pat us on the back and so on.

I'm very sceptical of any report that says "my life was ruined by this" and so on. I'd need to know a lot more about a person's life before I accepted the reason they may top themselves.

There is nothing in the link about the man having a mental age of 12, I'm not saying it isn't true, just that it isn't in the mail link (unless it is in one of the sub-stories). If the man is so mentally sub-normal, then how come he is so well versed in the use of facebook and other social networking sites.
Also you say that the girls where told that "their boyfriend" is an evil paedophile etc. This man abused at least 9 girls within a short period. How can 9 girls all beleive that some dodgy bloke is their boyfriend.
