Murdoch destroyed the career of an Australian prime minister in order to change currency controls so he could buy the NoTW in the 1960s.
That should have been a warning to all who came after.
As a parting shot he destroyed a 'left' leaning journalist who had been exposing his shenanigans by publishing a front page story claiming (totally fraudulently) that the man was being investigated by security services as a possible spy.
Vindictively, he phoned that journalist the night before and told him with glee to make sure he read the next day's newspaper. Murdoch then departed for London.
These stories have been around for decades. If you speak to anyone from the old so-called 'establishment' in Oz they will say they were glad to be rid of Murdoch who they regarded as crass and vulgur.
The Oz government had wind of what was to come with the phone hacking of murdered kid's phones at least 2 months ago. That's why they suddenly cancelled News Ltd's winning bid to broadcast Oz TV into China losing Murdoch around $300M a year.
The vultures are circling
