TOPIC: My TUMI story
#72226
My TUMI story 12 Years, 9 Months ago
Some older and most loyal visitors to this board may remember my story of the bumbag. My old sixties one had finally lost the will to live and after many attempts - in shops and online - to find a cheap alternative, and finding every one tacky, horrid and with nasty little zips that broke within seconds, I bought a TUMI in Harrods that was gorgeous, sturdy and even came with a registered number that brought it back TUMI if lost (geddit?).

The down side? It was a hefty £195. But worth every penny. Solid, leather, attractive.

Anyway, a couple of months ago - totally due to my over stuffing it - one of the industrial strength zips started sticking. I took it into TUMI in Piccadilly where they said "no problem", they could mend it but it might take several weeks. Since I was due to leave for the Cannes Film Festival I said OK but bought another to tide me over.

When I returned from my travels there was a message on my Answer Phone saying sorry, they had been unable to mend it but please to come in and select any other product worth £195 instead.

I thought this was very good service indeed and went in; as luck would have it there was a sale on; I got a fabulous carry on case (£700 reduced to £165) and a beautiful leather credit card case (£30 - down from £150). Cost me nothing.

Now I have to say I think that kind of service is fantastic. I made it very clear the zip problem had been my own fault and I had use of the bum bag for over a year - it made no difference. The replacement is working great (not over stuffed). No wonder TUMI are doing so well. First class product; first class service. In fact, class all round.
