TOPIC: Riots in Tottenham

Riots in Tottenham 12 Years, 8 Months ago
Ah, so, the truth is starting to emerge ... they didn't have a "grievance" - they were simply rioters, thieves, looters (and probably Labour supporters) -

"Crowds of looters smashed shop windows in a retail park near Tottenham Hale tube station.
The front window of Currys electrical store was smashed and the door of Argos was shattered after looters raided the stock room.
Every handset was stolen from a mobile phone store". from BBC News - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-14435251

Just about every riot I've seen in my lifetime has been a good excuse to destroy and steal.
The only difference was Thatcher gave in to them, instead of being firm, useless Tories simply encouraged more riots in effect.

so ..whoever made this claim..knew every protestor and rioter..did they ?

this claim is as dubious as saying every social security recipient is a 'scrounger'

I see the bullet in the police radio turns out to have been from a copper's gun..and the so-called gun found was actually in a sock. But who knows if that is even true ?.

And who do these rioters have to look to for guidance?
The media? - oops, they've been proven to be utterly corrupt.
The politicians? - erm, those fiddling hypocrites...
The police? - in bed with both the corrupt media & corrupt politicians, no cheques cash only
Religion? - see above....
Strong family values and principles - gone for a burton too after 30/40 years of Murdochisation of the above

Society is in meltdown - and not before time!

You've beaten me to it Chris, I was just about to say the same. Whilst we still have MP's and bankers on fat salaries who blatantly screwed the system to meet their own ends and mostly got away with it whilst doing pretty much bugger all except take four hour liquid lunches, then expect to see more of the same repeated the length and breadth of the country.

For the last forty years successive governments have failed to invest in our youth, and we are now paying the price.

Unfortunately we wont see any change in my lifetime and probably not for 100 years or until such time we pull the rug from under the fat arses of the establishment.

I'm the new breed of armchair Anarchist...(I'm allergic to flares and blood)

Eh ?

Have you had a bang on the head ?

Take the average national education budget ... divide by the number of students ... multiply by 10 (school from say age 5 to 15).

You will be staggered by the amount invested in EACH and EVERY student.

Whose fault is it then, that some have ended up as they have ?

The very same link veritas also says this -

"Teenagers and adults were said to have turned up in cars (ITK notes that all this "disaffected yoof" have cars !) to Tottenham's retail park and filled their boots with stolen items, unimpeded by police.

Others arrived on foot and piled shopping trolleys high with looted electronic goods, a local woman, who did not want to be named, said.

Another local resident told the BBC that looting had continued beyond daybreak on Sunday.

Meanwhile, shops including Vision Express, the Body Shop and Boots, in nearby Wood Green's High Street were also raided. Two cars there were also burnt out".

===

On tonights TV news a woman (fleeing from her burning home) said she passed in the doorway looters fleeing from the next door Carpet Right - with piles of stolen rugs (all laughing) !

I see the bullet in the police radio turns out to have been from a copper's gun..and the so-called gun found was actually in a sock. But who knows if that is even true ?.

Irrelevant to the topic ... nothing (proven, alleged or suspected) justifies such violent action (and theft)[color=#FF0000]

Seems to be spreading to Birmingham now. Reports of violence in the Bullring, and an Orange shop has been smashed in.
Not good!

So that's why they call the capital of England the Big Smoke.

Oh I'm not convinced that the Bullring needs protecting. I've often wondered - driving on it - if Spaghetti Junction being destroyed might benefit most of Birmingham.

Ooops - I stand corrected! I shall revisit shortly (and lovely Manchester - haven't been there in ages). I used to go to Brum regularly to do The Golden Shot (I am soooo old).

Which is why we still have the largest youth unemployment figures in Europe? Which is why there are still many young men leaving the education system not only with zero qualifications but unable to read and write. Fuck the budget and the figures and look at the ratio of school leavers with the number unable to find work. That is far more staggering.

Simon Hughes's take on things is remarkably cringe worthy.

This is turning into a massive PR disaster for the rioters .... tonight I have heard the words "coons" and "wogs" used for the first time in years.

The clampdown must be hard - that will really give these criminals something to crow about !

A lot of rumours flying around including an alleged confirmed report of Birmingham Children's Hospital
being attacked, but that has been denied. That would be awful if that was true, as if things weren't bad enough.
