Is it me - or was this inevitable? With the underclass breeding like rats for several generations, the working/middle classes being squeezed til the pips squeak, the media on self-destruct, politico's disgraced and the police devoid of respect - wasn't serious civil unrest not a dead cert? I am concluding there are two threats to my well-being - manipulative authorities & thick cunts.

there is clearly a great number of people who do not feel intimidated by powerful forces like the police. That is a good thing but it also means many innocents get badly affected..small business owners etc.

These riots can have significant long term results. I have a friend who managed a top hotel for many years, retired and invested all his money in downtown Los Angeles property. The riots there wiped out his money overnight as property values plummeted and took 20 years to recover.

There will always be disaffected sections of society; be they bored (UK), offended by leaders (Libya, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia); oppressed (Zimbabwe)... but this global section is growing. Watch it hit America. Then Russia. Get really frightened for the species when it hits China (again; men with flowers in front of tanks)...

Yes, there were whites involved. There was footage last night and interviews of white locals who saw other white locals get up to mischief. Who cares what colour of skin they are anyway???

Let people think (as loony Labour has done for years) that they are entitled to anything they want - free housing / benefits / allowances / child care / no responsibility etc etc - and you dont need to work (because the "state" will look after you) and this is what you get.

Whilst I totally agree that those who have committed these appalling acts should get what's coming to them from the law, it is absolutely essential that we try to understand what happened and why it happened. (Trying to understand in no way implies approval). If we don't do that we'll be like ostriches with their heads in the sand and it'll happen again in a few years' time.
