I felt the same when brain dead Bush invaded Iraq without planning on electricity, water and communications beforehand.

The entire vindictive, stupid tabloid mentality as to how to deal with rioters and looters is frankly terrifying.

It is as though they WANT the species to commit suicide.

The latest examples, appearing in Court, of these lovely people (who we'd all love to be our next-door-neighbours) -

An 18-year-old, on bail over a gang murder, was in court accused of smashing his way into a Carphone Warehouse.

A 15-year-old boy admitted breaking into Zee and Co, a fashion retailer in Bethnal Green, three times. He was bailed to Thames magistrates on 30 August, with District Judge Deborah Wright saying: "Mum needs to be looked at with a view to making a parenting order bearing in mind at 3am she didn't know where her son was."

yes we know they are mindless fools ITK but their crimes are idiotic and as others have pointed out more succinctly- what they have cost is less than what MPs have ripped off (with only a handful going to jail..and none evicted) and likewise bankers who brought the country to it's knees..not one has faced a court..not one has apologised..and they all got bonuses from public money.

Still...let's focus on those at the bottom of the heap.

We all know mindless vandalism and looting and rioting is stupid. What makes me worry is how stupid those are who fail to see the underlying problem and how to deal with it - yet blindly advocate repression without noticing they are doing exactly what Gaddafi did - he blamed the rebels as terrorists backed by Al Quieda - likewise Cameron and supporters are deflecting intelligent suggestions by pandering to right wing simplistic slogan morality and are saying "all rioters need to be treated the same; stamp down on the lot of them". Gaddafi, by being extremely repressive, is crushing the opposition despite the entire rest of the world supporting them, and doing so brilliantly but his method - brute force - cannot succeed eventually. (My fear is - like in Tunisia and Egypt, the opposition will prove to be even worse). The stupid coalition, egged on by stoopid tabloid media and brain dead right wingers, is reacting in the wrong way and is building up a heavy protest movement.

probably the most annoying thing about this is that anyone trying to discover why this happened is attacked as somehow supporting all this mindless action.

I despair when I see all these fools burning shops and breaking into stores..which probably means those working there got laid of or fired..burning cars (how many have comprehensive insurance ?)..basically those at the bottom of the heap attacking others who are almost there.

If we don't set out to work out why it happened then it will continue.

ITK is entitled to his opinion but I really think he responds in a tabloid fashion.

** and one should see the latest News International figures..the c*nts paid a fraction of tax on their profits.

What underlying problem ?

These are mindless thugs who have wasted every opportunity given to them and are just grabbing what they can.

The stupid coalition ...............is reacting in the wrong way and is building up a heavy protest movement.

Nonsense - notice how they ALL disappeared as soon as we cracked down on them?

To pander to them WILL increase their opportunistic approach.

Riots - by those who want to steal what someone else has worked for - are nothing new. They happened (in London) in the 50s, 60s 80s and even back to Dickens' time.

It happened because they saw an opportunity ... and (being thick) didn't realise that they would get caught !

Some of them were so thick they even did TV interviews showing how much they had stolen.

No, I don't have to sign on. More of your stupid assumptions about me.

Can I just ask a question, ITK? Why do you deliberately make things so personal? Just curious.

It's probably an active compensatory factor. It's clear that ITK has a few problems, and this is a coping mechanism.

Its not personal ... its just making sure we know where the poster is coming from (and he doesn't have a personal axe to grind).

For example ... if we know that a poster was Israeli we can put all his replies into that context.

i think you will find the poster ITK is being laughed at the whole world over.Even the teachers at my university make fun of her!
Better to laugh at the fool you can see than the idiots who run your country.

That's not what you were doing at all. You know that I am not working. so I'm not sure why you need to know whether I have signed on. It was a personal dig, and not the first.

It is ridiculous to blame people who receive government mandated payments as being 'scroungers' and such if they claim honestly.

Successive governments, Labour and Tory have tweaked all these various benefits over the decades and that includes corporate welfare (as much as welfare paid to individuals).

Neither Tory or Labour will do away with welfare. They make rods for their own backs by participating in tabloid speak.

If I can find it on the net..I could show you the economist's report which showed direct links between the 'dole' and the boom in music / record sales from the 1960s onwards that basically saved Britain financially (and was why The Beatles got their MBEs).

If someone posts in favour of more availability of alcohol, its useful to know whether he is an alcoholic (and thus has a hidden agenda) !

Your frequent posts "supporting" the riots and trying to find excuses and someone else to blame highlight this.

ITK, I find what you say disingenous.

You follow me around threads, sporadically throwing in references to my current situation in a provocative and insulting way, that has no relevance to the conversation.

You say it is important that we know the background of posters here. I posted about my own situation precisely because I felt it was relevant to the thread, and have done so since. But you have used that to insinuate on several occasions that I am a scrounger or not looking for work.

But if it is so important to know the background of who is posting (which it isn't), you've told us very little about yourself.

I like this message board because it is very accepting of a wide range of opinions and has some very insightful posters. I sometimes think JK's posts are a bit 'out there' and not to my taste, but he challenges notions many people take for granted and that is healthy. You spend most of your time insulting and patronising people.

Anyway, I'm giving you too much attention. And everyone knows that internet bullies have small penises.
