He seems to share your views.

As for me, the only good thing I can say about Pat is that at least he doesn't pretend to be a Christian while bashing the poor... and he's very articulate.

Is this guy angry or what? The usual cant about "rats" and "vermin"... but then he goes several steps beyond what even the most right wing commentators have so far offered as a "solution". Don't just evict them. Demolish the house too! A home is more than bricks and mortar, it's true. It's probably actually culpable, the bastard. I guess that's what happens when you spend your life entirely plastered.
It is, of course, only common sense that we demolish as many of these rogue properties as possible, and if a few innocent bungalows fall victim to the wrecking ball of justice... well, that's just collateral damage, innit isn't it? Come to think of it there are a couple of maisonettes in my village that I think are probably potential rioters, and one of the houses across the river was playing some really loud thrash metal the other night. Probably not a wrecking offence, but perhaps a Housebo might work with a threat of disconnection from the national grid if it doesn't put its occupants in order in future.
And what about all these bloody lean-tos moving in and taking all the jobs the garden sheds used to do? Sure, they're cheap, but they're only here to get grants and stuff.
And don't even get me started on housing benefit...

I thought he was talking about the bankers at first.

It's like he's reading every tabloid headline every written.

He's also factually wrong.
Sure they have far more resources in other countries to deal with riots and look what happens..governments fall like ninepins. The Paris riots ?

He inadvertantly insults the British people who do not have a history of compliantly lying down and taking it when the pressure is on (from the police or anyone else).

As usual..another armchair critic who thinks the under class all act with one mind and purpose and cannot see the complexities involved.

And he wants not only evictions but council houses burnt !!..weird

Thanks, Ted. He's good isn't he (but I think I'm better LOL !)

Let me ask you Ted - why do you think these feral rats (thats what a hard working woman who had just had her business destroyed called them on BBC News) feel they can get away with it today, whereas previous generations didn't ?

fess up ITK..you are Pat aren't you ?

I can imagine how angry and distraught anyone who had a car or business burnt would be and rightly so.

You have actually identified a growing sector of society ..'ferals'' they really do exist..and it's nothing to do with welfare.

Is this guy angry or what?

I would say angry with a hint of sadism. I notice he always smirks or slightly chuckles whenever he says something really offensive.

As veritas pointed out the number of police in society does not prevent riots or governments from falling. As to why riots occur, well I'm not a sociologists but I'm sure there are plenty different variables that go into it and I'm sure not one of them holds all the answers. But I would say a great deal of it depends on social and economic pressures. Obviously rich people don't riot very often.

I don't condone the type of stealing and looting that went on, I think it's terrible. But in order to prevent this type of thing from happening in the future you really have to understand why they occur. Simply showing moral outrage and ridiculing the rioters and calling for more police power isn't going to solve the problem. At least I don't think it will.

You sod. I hate people like you because, unlike me, you have the gift of brevity. And, of course, I agree with your analysis 100 percent. Simple approaches often work. Simplistic ones never do.
