That's not strictly true. The 21% figure doesn't refer to an increase in immigration. it's the figure for net migration which is the difference between the number of people coming to live in the UK and those leaving. There may well have been an increase in immigration, but a significant factor in that figure is the drop in the number of Brits moving abroad.

Just shows what a wonderful country this is with all these people flocking here (despite the "cuts" !)

Maybe the incomers want to work .... ?

I can't speak for other areas of course, but there are so many foreign (gypsy) families living off benefits here that you'd have a field day calling them all kinds of names

Or they can't afford to move due to the higher cost of fuel as a direct result of interfering in a civil war?

This country is overcrowded, the health service is stretched, as is the public transport system. We have the 2.5 million unemployed, we don't need more people to add to this figure.

We should be focussing on getting our own people back to work, not getting cheap foreign labour. mass immigration and a multi-cultural society doesn't work on social and economic grounds.

Well said,it may sound harsh, but you have to make sure you can service your own needs before you can give away to others.
The point of this was simply post a headline direct from the Mail.To show up coalition lies, broken promises to get elected.

there are 2 types of immigrants veritas, useful and not.
All those Poles etc have been overall useful, but the billion pounds estimate by the government we spend on benefits for out of work EU people is the other side of the coin.

My preference is hopefully in the centre,ie like the arab countries. You come here if invited, and go home when not needed.May sound harsh, but we have to live in the real world, and my local benefits office is full of foreign gypsys milking the system.

My m8 works in a warehouse in Leics. They haven't taken on any British workers since 2004.
It's ok for foreign workers to take on jobs the locals can't do,but makes no sense to leave the locals idle while foreigners fill their pockets from the wages.
That said many locals aren't as good employees, can't blame the bosses for wanting the best for their money.
