This country is overcrowded, the health service is stretched, as is the public transport system. We have the 2.5 million unemployed, we don't need more people to add to this figure.
We should be focussing on getting our own people back to work, not getting cheap foreign labour. mass immigration and a multi-cultural society doesn't work on social and economic grounds.
there is a view that Britain benefits from Polish etc (excellent) education and willing workers.
there are 2 types of immigrants veritas, useful and not.
All those Poles etc have been overall useful, but the billion pounds estimate by the government we spend on benefits for out of work EU people is the other side of the coin.
My preference is hopefully in the centre,ie like the arab countries. You come here if invited, and go home when not needed.May sound harsh, but we have to live in the real world, and my local benefits office is full of foreign gypsys milking the system.

My m8 works in a warehouse in Leics. They haven't taken on any British workers since 2004.
It's ok for foreign workers to take on jobs the locals can't do,but makes no sense to leave the locals idle while foreigners fill their pockets from the wages.
That said many locals aren't as good employees, can't blame the bosses for wanting the best for their money.
