My toilet got blocked just when a guest (Tommy) was coming over for dinner. Fortunately it didn't matter - he was happy using the bathroom one (how can anybody live with only ONE toilet? Visit the neighbours?).

Next day off to the local hardware to get a plunger, bleach and morning papers.

As I walked back with a toilet plunger and the Daily Mail I thought - sums me up really, doesn't it?

Fortunately the bleach worked fine and all now back to normal. Enough shit in my house without that, thank you.

... on the Daily Mail ?

A bit extreme, JK, I would have just stopped buying it.

I can easily see how this sort of event might have driven you around the bend.

That was my problem; that old standby (the wire coat hanger) wouldn't go down at all; fortunately the blockage was nice clean(ish) water!

Now I'm sort of confused. How can "nice clean(ish) water be a "blockage"?

Well the blockage (very low down) meant that the flush water backed up to the top of the bowl and only went down very slowly (overnight).

OK, I think I know all I want to know. I now propose to take no further part in this unsavoury conversation other than advise you to invest in some caustic soda for the next time.

Watchdog all about blocked toilets. My taxi driver blamed the monsoon yesterday. He could be right.

I blame the cistern! On the same topic Stevie Nicks is to wed William Shatner - Her married name will be Stevie Shatner-Nicks.
