But it's very useful to have a historian like ITK on board; all of us who remember NATO deciding to bomb innocent civilians because Benghazi was about to be turned into Auschwitz were wrong! The rebels were marching across Libya with huge success. Thank you ITK (Stalin would have loved your historical wisdom).

Facts, JK, Facts ! You never ever produce any facts !
Do you want me to supply the actual dates and events ?

The people's revolution started on Feb 17th
NATO did not join them (to stop genocide of civilians) till March 31st

By then the rebels had marched half way across Libya - FACT !

In the last few days we have discovered that Gaddafi had missiles targetted on Tripoli - no doubt to "wipe out" anyone (the clear majority) that opposed him.

Many thought the rebels would fail - crushed by a machine that was already killing (and would continue to do so) anyone who stood in his way. They were wrong. They (like Gaddafi) miscalculated.

He is history. Libya is Free. Assad next.

I quote the Amnesty report...

"Members and supporters of the opposition, loosely structured under the leadership of the National Transitional Council (NTC) ... have also committed human rights abuses, in some cases amounting to war crimes, albeit on a smaller scale," the Amnesty report said.

It said opposition supporters "unlawfully killed" more than a dozen Gadhafi loyalists and security officials between April and early July. And just after the rebels took control of eastern Libya, the report said, angry groups of rebel supporters "shot, hanged and otherwise killed through lynching" dozens of captured soldiers and suspected mercenaries, with impunity.

"A dozen"
"dozens"

Hardly the hundreds of thousands that died under Gaddafi (over 42 years) is it?
and where are the still missing 20,000 ?

notice NATO is now bombing 'safe heavens' for those who support the old regime. What has this got to do with the UN mandate?
