Downton 9 million to Spooks 4.6 but I bet 2 million did as I did and watched Spooks on iPlayer (ITV iPlayer is very annoying, not allowing fast forward through adverts and then reverting to the beginning if you pause or stop it half way through).
Actually, I thought it was rather disrespectful of the BBC to deliberately put Spooks up against Downton Abbey. I suspect they knew they’d get lower viewing figures and justify killing it off. No previous series of Spooks has been shown on a Sunday in this time slot. Why now?
Oh, and I don't think you can say "both win". Spooks had it's third lowest ever ratings.

I'm avoiding Downton until the DVD set comes out - which sentences me to a Likely Lads period of desperate news dodging - but I'm hugely enjoying Spooks. It's a bit cartoonish this time but still really nicely done.

I'm fascinated by Tim Firth's bottom lip, which keeps jutting out when he is playing 'thoughtful'. And I keep hearing the tune to The Double Deckers all the time, and that memory of little Timmy as Scooper:
