TOPIC: I'm a busy bee...

I'm a busy bee... 12 Years, 7 Months ago
Writing music, making films, dealing with stuff... but I do watch some Daytime TV and I have to say Doctors is nearly always very well written, very well acted and very superior TV.

Precisely David and I'm watching thinking - how come something this good is buried away at 2pm when we get crap like The Body Farm at 9pm? And how come something with clearly a tiny budget like this is so much more affecting (the cutting off of the finger) than the graphic and expensive gore inflicted upon us at Prime Time?

I can't understand why Doctors isn't re run at teatime or at least at 7pm instead of that vapid nonsense called "The One Show" which is like Nationwide with a failed CSE in Woodwork.

Today, Steve, we had to squirm to the sight of poor dancing Geordie host grovelling as to how the One Show dog trainer isn't really the One Show dog trainer because Director General Mark Thompson hates getting complaints from morons.

I thought the Lauren storyline was a mess - maddeningly implausible for several weeks, then a manic attempt to make the other characters suddenly react as they should have done ages ago, then a grand guignol-style conclusion. I sometimes think the writers are on drugs. The direction, however, has been terrific - vastly superior to evening soaps.

Good grief. I really see no purpose of that programme whatsoever and I don't actually think the Producers, Presenters or the creative staff have a clue either. Is it news driven, celeb driven, feature driven, or is it an miscalculated mess of all three?

I'm with you on the Lauren story Pru. I found it a bit hard to believe that no one seemed to notice what she was up to, then suddenly they started to and then she was dead.

Sometimes Doctors shows its weaknesses like this - possibly due to being made on a shoestring budget- but overall it's excellent for a soap, with some first class acting, and some nicely rounded characters.
