Can anyone explain to me why Palestine should NOT be accepted as a State?
If Israel is worried, surely as long as Palestine agrees that Israel too is a State, there should be no problem?
Of course there is the usual disagreement about what part of Jerusalem is what (I hated the entire city; a quite ghastly place).
We should all have our own separate islands or States where people of like mindedness can live together in peace. A place for muslims, a place for jews, a place for atheists, a place for everything. Let's not throw people in prisons. Give all the serial killers their own state where they can kill themselves all they want to. The only global rule that exists is that you cannot cross into another state unless you promise to play by their rules.
Because if there is one thing right-wingers are right about it is that multiculturalism does not work. If you have two groups of people living together who believe totally different things it only creates conflict.
So give every group of people their own nation and let's not bother with the people we disagree with.
From what i gather, the main thing that stops the Palestinians from having their own state is their opinion that Israel shouldn't have one. Certain elements in Palestine want to obliterate Israel from the face of the earth.

Why do you single out Palestine ?
Israel has no diplomatic relations with 36 UN member states, 20 of them members of the 22-member Arab League.

I refer the honourable gentleman (or lady) to the answer I gave some moments ago. (the bit he/she missed off the quote).

You'll find the honorable member for Bigot does this quite a lot

The quote is quite accurate ... you may have added further details (which do not answer my question) but your quote clearly states that "the main thing that stops the Palestinians from having their own state is their opinion that Israel shouldn't have one"

This is what happens when you "create" countries by simply drawing a line on a map - ignorring all ethnic alliegences etc.
Very true ITK,this was done by the Brits pre-war,the very same Brits who seem to have forgotten the lessons Lawrence taught us,and are still interfering in Arab politics today.

... at the behest of the Arabs !
BTW - Anyone see the expose of B-Liar's earnings last night? Fascinating stuff. He'd sell his mother for half-a-crown.

At the behest of the unelected and not exactly nice arabs ITK...but without the support of the much more democratic AU.
