Got my new little toy today ! 12 Years, 6 Months ago  
Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101 Tablet PC

Far superior (according to my techy friends) that the iPad. Just getting used to it .... great display, very fast, very responsive.
The camera may not be quite as good (but, hey - if you need a camera, then you use a proper camera, right?)

If Mrs ITK can have new shoes (every day ????) .....

I think you can download one from Google marketplace, veritas ... but I wont bother - prefer to deal with those who help themselves !

Like the tablet ITK but not sold on it being more useful than my trusty laptop. Have you seen what Amazon have in the pipeline? Nice price point.

I love my little 'on the road' laptop as well angel but I road tested an Ipad for 2 hours last week and I think I'm hooked.

#Love the image of Alf Garnett reading The Daily Mail on his Eee Pad while Imelda Garnett dances around in her new shoes (every day!!!) ...outside the peasants starving....

Yes, I had seen early reviews, angel - thanks - but no sign of a UK release date yet is there?

(I also think that the spec may be short at that price point).

Dont get an I Pad just like the I phone they dont support Flash so you are very restricted to what you can watch video wise online rendering them pretty much useless .

I was given an Ipad to use for a couple of hours and I got quite hooked on it..

1) a sucker for the design
2) always use a little mouse but got quickly used to using touch screen for all controls.

downside..

1)terrified I would drop it..it feels like it will shatter into a million pieces
2)it does nothing more (for me) than my little portable laptop does which cost a third of price.

Thanks for the feedback. Given what you've said it seems there is no point in changing my laptop. Kind of makes you wonder why they're so popular.

You are right, angel - portability is their strongest selling point.
But better a tablet than a net book or laptop I think (although I fall for anything "new" that comes along !)

Not much bigger than an A4 pad, very light, bright screen, easily managable when on the move.

My problems with a tablet... no CD/DVD slot (I have so many movies on DVD and like creating CD-R's from my iTunes library for when driving). I'm not convinced by the different mouse/touchpad concept. My 13 inch Apple Macbook Pro is terrific and virtually the size of a slightly thicker tablet.

I'm still awaiting my Macbook Pro to arrive!

Thought it was time I invested in some new Mac technology, although I refuse to ditch my PowerMac G5, even if it can't use a lot of new software.
