Re:GADDAFI DEAD - reports Reuters !!!!! 12 Years, 6 Months ago
The BBC are also reporting the allegation that Gaddafi is dead {as in "shot while trying to escape"... now where have we heard that before...?} These reports, apparently, were greeted by "mass celebration". Had he been captured and given due process of law {and let us not forget that this might still be the course available to the new Libyan authorities} there might have been some cause for the world to join in. But this doesn't sound like anything even approximating due process. Summary executions are not the mark of a civilised state. Neither are public celebrations of rough justice. No matter who that state's friends are.
Other reports say different, so we will have to wait and see.
I would have thought they would have paraded his body around the world media by now if true. But if true then he stuck to his word about fighting to the death.
Thank you, JK. As one who saw the picture I did wonder what the point of posting it was. I spent a little while wondering whether I ought to ask that it be taken down and, having made up my mind to do so, found that it had already had been. I'd also add that the accompanying mirthful words do the poster no favours. Without our humanity we are pretty worthless, and the posting of the picture and the words used appear to suggest very strongly a mutual want of that quality in whoever makes, publishes or distributes stuff like that. Views are one thing. Sick jokes and graphic images of very real death or suffering are quite another. Especially when they are posted with such obvious glee.

I thought many (those who have NOT had their heads in the sands for the last few months !) may like to see what has happened to the man who has committed so many crimes and killed many hundreds of thousands of people.
Denying reality - because it doesnt suit you - is pretty sick in my book.
Yes ITK many people feel as you do and are delighted to relish the death of another human being; we'd just prefer you to do it elsewhere please. You can live with it; we can't.

Very happy to
Would rather be amongst those who support life ... rather than those who support murdering repressive dictators

We have our views ITK,and of course you have yours. When in someone else's house it is considered polite to abide by their rules.
There are plenty of places on the net where your views would recieve a much more sympathetic response than here.So please bear that in mind when trying to antagonise the rest of us,thank you.

Hiding in a sewer pipe, and begging for mercy, is not fighting to the death !
Rather funny that someone who called his opponents rats was the one hiding in the sewers !
Gaddafi could have left the country with his family instead of staying where he was likely to be found by his enemies. With NATO's firepower it was only a matter of time. As for "begging for mercy" we'll never know if he did or not. If he was taken the way you suggest then he was murdered by those who captured him.
I was no fan of Gaddafi, but we have seen that his enemies are just as bad as he was, and the British government has shown itself to be without honour.

A well thought out response from a sensible and intelligent young gentleman.
As for Intheknow I really do have to raise the subject of mental instability. Is it right to get such pleasure out of the murder of an unarmed person? Sick minds get kicks out of sick things, and this type of behaviour has no place on the board of an intelligent person like Jonathan King.
Relativism (the intellectual sanctuary of scoundrels) is nourished by imprecise thinking. It's depressing that every time these threads appear, they soon end up with such lazy old platitudes as 'everyone's as bad as each other'. A mug of horlicks would be more invigorating.
