TOPIC: Doctors Today
#76497
Doctors Today 12 Years, 6 Months ago
What a wonderful piece of quiet but well produced and life affirming drama today.

Why is it wasted in the afternoon on BBC1 when at least it could be repeated at 5.30 or replace The Useless Show at 7?

I know what you mean - I'd certainly prefer it at prime time to the relentlessly silly and depressing Casualty (the worst idea of Saturday night TV I've ever heard). But this is the reason why daytime TV is generally so naff - as soon as anything good appears people say, 'Move it to prime time!'

(I still say Doctors goes to pieces when it tries comedy: yesterday they had a shockingly bad actor appearing as a camp interior designer. They might as well all walk about with red noses on and revolving bowties when they try comedy - which, to be good, needs to be done straight, not with OTT acting and silly scripts.)

Funny Prunella about Casualty, I think it's very, very depressing, yet Holby City is the only programme of the week that I will watch religiously (now that Doctor Who is not on air!). It's allowed to be dramatic in areas where Casualty always goes for "realism with shock value" and some of the characters in Holby are a lot more rounded than in Casualty.
