TOPIC: Me and coffee
#76940
Me and coffee 12 Years, 6 Months ago
I used to always buy Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee but decided it tasted just the same as every other Mild Roast.

Since Blue Mountain cost £25 for 250 grams whilst others were £5 for the same, I switched over.

Ground for paper filter please.

Today I thought I'd try Blue Mountain again.

It's gone up slightly in price - it's now £37 for 250 grams.

But sitting here, sipping it, I must admit it's delicious with my Egg Mayonnaise sandwich.

And the cheaper alternative has gone up in price too; it's now £6.

My God this recession is biting into our lives.

Brazilian Santos gets my vote. I drink buckets of coffee, which is most unrefined, I should really try using a cup.

I wasn't taking the economic depression seriously until now, but this mini-Dickensian tale of coffee depravation has touched my heart. I'm off to protest outside of St Paul's.

You're so right Pru. Sadly, tragic events like those described tend to be ignored and replaced by worries over lesser problems like death and injustice. We are here to redress the balance.

And don't get me started about the price of Pouilly Fume.

I’m a big fan of Beaujolais. Not so much the basic stuff, but Fleurie, Morgon, Moulin-a-Vent Beaujolais Villages etc. Prices have been steadily rising, but last week I saw Tesco had the BV on offer. It worked out at £4-88 a bottle for a case of 12 delivered. It’s been around £6-99 for the past year, so some prices are coming down! (So less coffee, more wine from now on).
