Tried it again. Pointless. Completely , totally and utterly banal, dull and pointless. Unlike JK's magnificent public board, tweets from nobodys like myself are universally ignored, it is simply a vehicle for celebs, politicians and sportsmen to keep themselves in the headlines. So perhaps not pointless for them, but if you don't even make the Z list, then no-one will give a f**k about anything you say.

I have 1 follower...then discovered it was simply a spam bot advertising sex products.

Yes, JK uses this board to promote his work, of course, but at least you know here that even though you may not always get a reply you will be read.

I might start up a Twitter for non celebs only. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...I think I might be onto something.

I have 90 but I agree it's mostly banal, pointless crap to fill up the gaps when I've not got anything better to do.

I like it, yes most of the "famous" people just post crap all the time but I have used it to ask questions to people I admire in the music industry and had responses from most of them.

As a music fan it's a great way to interact with musicians/producers.

It's also a great way for people who have been unfairly smeared in the press to get their side of the story out in the public domain.
I reckon this is why most journalists hate Twitter as their lies get found out very quickly!

Apparently twitter is playing havoc with google searches. An author friend relies on a google news search for his book reviews, but the search now picks up someone with the same name on twitter who posts utterly banal remarks. So he'll open an urgent sounding 'news alert' and it will merely be this other chap saying things like 'I'm eating a ham and cheese sandwich. Tasty'. It sounds to me like twitter has liberated the nerd.

I use Twitter and Facebook to promote my business and find its an excellent tool for marketing and special offers etc. Business to business networking with Twitter and FB works for me. Why you would want it for chatting is anyones guess.
