I firmly believe these powers are more for show than real protection.

and the comments section contain the usual ignorant remarks that proclaim the reader should dictate law such a s' lock 'em up forever' mentality etc etc...I personally believe the ignoramuses that write in comments sections should be legally refused permission to post on internet boards but no-one seems to take note of my concerns.

The law under which GG was refused travel are bizarre and a direct result of media pressure on clueless and gutless politicians and are a form of extra-judicial punishment that serves no purpose.

One does however hit the nail on the head..the idea of taking any court seriously in a number of Asian countries is an insult. Corruption is the norm.

I find it very sad that people who have never met Gary Glitter or know nothing about his personal life (apart from what they read in the papers) can display such hate. There are worse crimes being committed every day which the Joe Public couldn't give a hoot about. people need to get a sense of proportion.

One thing I always think about The Bacafoil Bastard - given the extensive muck-raking etc, he can't have done much wrong in his life. I'm sure victims far and wide would have crawled out of the woodwork tempted by the promises of the CPS, and Max Clifford's chequebook. So my opinion is that, as seedy & strange as he is - and really always was, even in his 'heyday' - the errant Mr Gadd can't be the 'predatory paedophile' he is supposed to be as News International would have had his 'victims' queueing around the block. He is, as he always was, 'just' a bit of a pervy tosser - which is not, as far as I'm aware, a crime in itself.
Yet.

Funny paragraph on GG in The Mirror

The charity’s director Claude Knights added: “To use one analogy, you wouldn’t put an alcoholic into a bar unsupervised. When you think of the person concerned it would be better for them if they are being monitored because temptation is never far off with these kind of offenders.

I've personally seen alcoholics left in bars and clubs unsupervised I think we all have or some of us have been them once upon a time.

do you mean 'pervy tosser' as in readers of The Sun(and the publisher and his reptiles)who lapped up Page 3 'core blimey look at the bloody great knockers on that 17 year old" porn ?.
Those type of tossers ?

do you mean tossers like that fuckwit 'reporter' (opinion writer) who posted pics of his lard arse in a suit with a gun and an Aston Martin and pretty girl, on his Facebook page..and just arrested in the Great hacking Scandal?

pervy tossers like that?

Strange, then, that sex offenders as a group present just about the lowest recidivism rate of all recorded convictions.

Something every armchair judge or childrens' charity director who pontificates regularly about "public danger" appears to either not be aware of or deliberately ignores.

Paul Gadd wouldn't just have to be a predatory paedophile to assault anyone at any time in the future. He'd have to be out of his mind.

Health in the community is by far the biggest danger, but given the costs of going back to hospitalization it is never mentioned.
I know well, because back in the early 90s I made a fortune with a nursing agency out of this.

these charities are empire builders and I abhor them..although there must be some who do good work.

I still seethe about the Oz woman (who runs a high profile 'kiddies' charity in Oz) who got pissed on a plane sitting next to me and groped me ..wanting me to kiss her. Not before she told me her life story (which i didn't want to hear) as a drug addicted prostitute at 13 seducing men who she now says should be in jail for life.

And how Asian women were all 'ugly and from the gutter and are just hookers' yet she trawls Asia looking for western men to have busted.

A real eye-opener into a person who has influence. And the nearly one million dollars she gets in government subsidies to attend 'conferences' on how to prevent pedos traveling abroad..not one penny going to kids in need in Asia.

And when I mentioned a saintly French doctor in Thailand who has devoted his life to helping children with AIDS she said.."oh he should be investigated !"

sickening. She was probably in Salem in a former life burning old ladies who had the misfortune to own a pussy cat !
