Will someone please tell BBC News ..... 12 Years, 4 Months ago
... that the vast majority don't give a hoot(*) about the Olympics, and wish we hadn't wasted our money (which we will still be paying off in 50 years time) ?

(*) As evidenced by the fact that the overwhelming majority didn't apply for tickets !

Well, I did - and most of my mates: But we can't get any.

Over 60 years since the last Olympics in Britain. I wasn't around then and won't be for the next.

I dread to think what will happen the stadium if West Ham don't get it or Spurs. There some great sporting facilities in London they would be perfect great for games without building and splashing cash.

My Dad laugh at his mate's face when he said he got tickets to Table Tennis who cares about Table Tennis unless your Japanese ? And what the fuck is Synchronized swimming who classes that a sport ?

My idea of Olympics Games is Toe Wrestling, drunks playing Shuffle Board , Snooker best of five frames, Subbuteo, Truck Pulling bare knuckle fighting, Sumo Wrestling and female Boxing.

When has U.K ever came good in the rankings ? We did shit at the last one but the media said we were respectable like fuck we were. If you don't win the gold medal then your a loser silver means your shit just like bronze.

All athletes are dopers just like the local pot heads in any area.

Had a rare lie in this morning and so listened to 5 Live.

Breakfast show had nothing but non stop Olympics, followed by a special show on... the Olympics. Then for an hour or so before midday, a different show: about the Olympics. This was then followed by an afternoon and evening of Sport, which in between the football, probably went on about the Olympics.

This saturation coverage is guaranteed to piss people off, but then the BBC haven't really 'got it' with their viewers, have they?

Andrew, did you forget-

Redgrave, Coe, Thompson, Ovett, Cram, Farah, Edwards, Akabusi, Elliot, Holmes, Radcliffe, Gunnell, Lewis etc ?

Presently, the UK leads - for instance, in terms of sports - in sailing and cycling.

It be a shambles and opening and closing ceremonies will be worst then then Beijing and Robert Plant was embarrassing to watch shame as he is a living legend. I wonder how CGI will be used ?

no I think it will basically go well and be a huge distraction from the very real problems. It's only 2 weeks...the build-up in the months before may drive you batty.

Then it's there..and suddenly it's gone and you are left with billion dollar bills and giant stadiums that will be underused.

Glad I'm not a tax payer and secondly cycling and sailing are not sports they are hobbies, just like darts and horse racing.

2.4 million "expressed an interest" - when they knew the details / prices only 1.9 million tried to buy (and how many of them were touts??) ....

Out of the UK's 60+ million population - for less than 2 million to want to buy tickets (and how many of them were duplicate / multiple entries?) thats a massive minority as far as I'm concerned.

Fencing be good with real swords be like watching Highlander but for real. Show Jumping sorry Equestrian is for rich and posh only, gymnastics is for people who want to watch women in skimpy outfits spreading out their legs, walking nothing against walking but not a sport something we do everyday, Volleyball some reason why people watch gymnastics but want to see people under the shirt, boxing is too amateur for Olympics, Archery is for posh people again or maybe people want to train to kill a Hillbilly we all seen Deliverance, Judo and wrestling we all want to see women wrestle on the floor and get in interesting positions, weightlifting don't mind that but we already know about The World's Strongest Man every Christmas, football love it, Golf not for the Olympics should do a crazy golf contest instead, Shooting posh people again who don't hunt but shoot clay pigeons instead, Diving pointless just people want to impress the ladies and show off some muscle and Water Polo not a sport just pointless pastime.

Andrew if forum postings where an Olympic sport you would be a potential gold winner with your last comment!

Don't even start me on the "para" olympics !

The very idea that people with warped, twisted and distorted bodies can be referred to as "athletes" and compete in an Olmpics is utterly absurd, and bordering on insanity.

In many countries (and I'm not saying this is the right thing to do !!!) they will be destroyed at birth !

In India, for example, their is still a culture of killing "normal" girls (as they rather prefer boys) - what do you think they would do with one of these ?
