TV satisfaction 12 Years, 4 Months ago
I admit that I'm quite inexperienced and I know a lot of people will have more knowledge than I do about the workings of TV ... however ...

Two long running and popular dramas .. Heartbeat and The Royal .. were cancelled without any real thought of the fans. Heartbeat was one of my mother's favourite shows, and that's got me wondering. I can understand that everything has to end, and that shouldn't be a problem, but nor should it be a problem for a decent TV company to find a good way to end a show to the satisfaction of the fans.

Both shows were ended with a cliffhanger with one of the main cast facing death. Both shows were rating winners. Both were connected, with The Royal being a spin off from Heartbeat, so it should not take a genius to work out that a 90 minute special, where the two stories, and two shows can end together. Maybe old character can be brought back for the finale.

It would be a sure rating winners (and money maker). It's Win Win!!

So ... I am I missing something ??

Sadly PH the answer is that most TV schedulers, like most music executives, are morons - or they would be doing proper jobs for decent money.

You or I could schedule a channel ten times better in one afternoon per week.

Most common is TV sitcoms I was really in to Saxondale but sadly ended after 2 short series. If you look at www.phill.co.uk most sitcoms had 6 weeks then forgotten sadly most of the classics are wiped.

How about it then? Any ideas other than cooking, antique or home shows? Love to see your schedule.

I think daytime TV needs a few live shows. They'd be cheaper than a lot of the tosh that's on at present and live TV discovers real presenting talents. It also encourages prodcuers to use their imagination and initiative.

I guess I could have a bash at coming out with a schedule. I know we could use a decent music show focusing on new original material, preferably from unsigned acts. There are plenty undiscovered songwriters about.

And I would still like to see some TV Bod deal with the Heartbeat / Royal situation. Apparently, most of the cast would like to see it resolved too.

I quite look through the listings last night showed that level of tripe in British TV. eg. "Snog Marry Avoid" - "Don't Tell The Bride" ... and one of the movies really described the state perfectly ... "Dumb and Dumberer". Then during a commercial break we had Cheryl Cole. I still can't understand a word she says.

Sports relief is a joke most of the money goes to asylum and Africa who be a very good continent if they didn't have conflict with themselves are you listening Geldof ? Your Band Aid festivals where for your benefit and people to see good line ups nothing more nothing less.

There some great stuff in BBC archives that locked up in temperature controlled storage. The problem is that it's expensive to repeat due to music arrangements and cast repeat fees, and some programs need signed wagers from the cast if they don't sign then they can't repeat.

James Bolam won't allow repeats of Likely Lads on BBC and Martin Shaw wanted Professionals banned.

I like to see the Black & White Minstrel Show but our U.K is PC they can't show anything now even On The Buses get the edits, so does Only Fools & Horses on Gold. They allow to say Bullshit but not bastard I written numerous emails to Gold no response.

My idea of TV heaven is watching Raquel Welch in Fantastic Voyage or anything with her in. Jenny Agutter in Logans Run her in the green gown just as me drooling. Both getting on but I wouldn't say no to neither even Prince Charles porked Susan George good and proper and what about Jane Asher in Deep End playing a gorgeous cock tease with sexy legs. And Adrienne Posta in Up The Junction you can see up her mini dress in that I envy you JK.

I wish I born sooner.

Couldn't agree more I have loads of stuff when Jasper had big curly hair and when he still playing his folk songs it is brilliant. But over the years like most entertainers they get dried up and try to hard to be funny just look at Billy he even dyed his beard purple to be funny.

Jasper Carrot should be remembered for his early work not when he became a bore.

Jim Davidson is losing his appeal he has cancelled lots of shows to poor due to poor ticket selling, my advice stop being predictable and talking about yourself you self indulge too much.
