Ali at 70 - what a star! 12 Years, 3 Months ago
I remember Cassius Clay 50 years ago. What a giant of a man (and so gorgeous).
Love him. He was great. He is great.
Happy birthday.

I wouldn't say to his face I bet he could still throw a awesome punch. If Tyson was around with Ali was fighting that be awesome to watch. David Haye is shit I was disappointed with the fight with Wladmir Klitscko he could of landed some hay-makers in the 4th round easily I wanted to my money back from Sky. Holyfield is making a comeback and still wants to be crowned heavyweight champion for the last time.

A living legend. If only Britain could find a sports star (say tennis) with just a fraction of his charisma and star quality. I am starting to believe they simply don't make great stars any more.

as I said on another thread (where I know you would have devoured my every word..) I met him during the 2000 Olympics and he was a towering giant of a man.

But throw a punch? Sadly I doubt it. He was a shuffling, shaking giant...the saddest thing I have seen. Parkinsons is a shocking disease to get when you are young.

I once saw Michael Redgrave in a London restaurant. His mouth was quivering so much the food kept dropping out.

Happy Birthday to Mohamed Ali !

It's all about selling out take Beckham I never rated him as a player and still don't his only famous for selling his name for products same for his wife. Lets follow the Zappa route and give our kids funny name and people still get them wrong Loose Women were talking about Moon Unit and referring to her as a he.

Murray is a joke he won fuck all and still media love him he is Scottish and he hates the English which he as admitted openly but yet BBC and Sky talk about him that his special.

Another thing about Beckham he did fuck all for England. FC there are great sporting personalities out there but not in England watch some Spanish football, World Series, NHL and go see some non league football.

Andrew, I'm not really a sports fan. Go and see some non league football? I'd sooner pluck out my toenails with a spoon than watch 22 men kick a pig's bladder about a field for two hours. And Golf!! What in God's name is that all about? Hitting a ball with a stick into a hole...and Snooker is even more bizarre... knocking coloured balls with sticks down the side of a dinner table.

Then stop moaning about sports stars then. Snooker is a intense game to play it deals with deep thinking and thought and maths is deeply involved it'a all about angels. Another thing Veritas you didn't mention Parkinsons can trigger Dementia.

I never did care too much for Muhammed Ali. Ok so he was a great boxer, but not a great sportsman. He was very arrogant, trash talking about all his opponents and even accused of racism against Joe Frazier, who was much darker. Even as a kid, I can remember wanting him to be beaten.

Of course I feel sorry for him with his current condition, but I don't think he was a great sportsman in the true sense of the word.
