Freedom 12 Years, 3 Months ago
www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16590585

Well done Wikipedia and others! Boo and hiss to Twitter!

Why are the powers that be so afraid of the internet? And from America...the land of 'liberty' and 'freedom'!

This comes after a young British man is being aggressively pursued by US courts for running a website advertising free films. The UK has backed the US and he could be extradited and prosecuted in the states and face a possible 10 year jail sentence.

Indeed they have declared war on the internet, and the British government are the allies in this war. They want to clip our fingers and take out our eyes for they only want us to see what they want us to see.

Don't know about you lot but this makes me angry.

FC, at least some states - eg China - are open and actually admit "blocking" of the net (well, the bits they don't like) LOL !

no..Google are part of the problem.

The world seems to be in the thrall of Google, the Zuckerberg creep and every other carpetbagger who has claimed the net and perpetuate the fantasy that it's all about freedom, democracy and the right to free speech.

Google is a rapacious US corporation intent upon imposing US laws on the world and thankfully countries like India, Italy and France are fighting back.

My knuckles are rapped. You know more than I do Veritas. Perhaps I should consider switching search engines.

I'm confused now guys. Are we on the side of the Internet or not? The slippery slope in my view if the powers that be decide what it is we should be doing online. Many many people used megaupload which was one of the few sites enabling users fast download times free of charge. I know piracy is illegal, but is the line going to be drawn before or after those profiteering from piracy? The internet is being treated as some little country without a dictatorship...the most powerful state on earth wants it!
