I'll let you all into a little secret place right here in Margate.

www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-...et_Kent_England.html

Just had a main course at £4.50,with a glass of aloe Vera juice at 75p.

I visit Thailand regularly, this compares well, and the owners are a mixed pair, she is Thai,he from Walsall, and cooks some of the best breakfasts and traditional British fare you can find.so something for every eventuality.

all my ex-pat friends in Thailand hate Thai food and seek out ghastly English style eateries. ( just like on the Costa del etc)

I always find the best Thai street stall.

Alternatively I've found the best Thai rest in the world in Sydney (run by Thais of course)

There are two styles of Thai cooking...one for the masses and one that was recipes reserved for the upper classes, royalty and so on which were passed down from generation to generation and are mind boggling superb.

naturally I am drift towards the latter.

Thai food has been my favourite cuisine for almost 50 years. Your story about Thai friends made me smile; I've often said (and even had letters printed) that it's mad to judge Chinese restaurants by the quantity of Chinese diners - most members of the public eat at MacDonalds.

the very best Thai food of all time.. (and it's a toss-up for me..Vietnamese or Thai !) is by David Thompson an Aussie chef who now cooks banquets for the Thai royal family and teaches Thai chefs at the most prestige school in Bangkok,..the Dusit.

Has the Naim at the Dalkin Hotel in London..can't wait to go there..undoubtedly the best.

he went broke in Sydney even though Tom Cruise ate there every night.
