..and another thing In The Know 12 Years, 3 Months ago
in my insightful reply to KJ 's thread on police arrests and re-Google..what of this :

during my research on the STASI style organisation Google (is not your friend) I discover this multi mega billion dollar corporation boasts that it hires 3000 people worldwide.

I see it differently..while they hire 3000, hundreds of thousands of other media workers are losing their jobs because of the march of Google.

Those in publishing, advertising, postal workers etc etc ad finitum.

Not unlike the phony claims of McDonalds and Walmart who proclaim they create jobs yet destroy ten jobs for everyone they create.

What say ye to this phenomenon that is sweeping the world ..vanishing jobs ..will ye not spare one thought for the hapless welfare mothers of the world forced to take rent assistance ?

I am going to ask my MP to repeal the Enclosures Act (as a starter) especially for you, veritas, as a means of holding back progress.

an odd claim with no substance.

ITK has merely pointed out that I am correct that the job market is changing at lightning speed which he says is 'progress'. 100 years ago it was progress. Today it is opportunism.

This is similar to my clunk headed friend here who claims that by outsourcing jobs to India and China at a great rate...like the UK / USA is..with manufacturing disappearing as it has in the UK and USA (the Frog president was spot on) that those countries will surge ahead and the poor will be raised to our standards.

No-the middle classes will be dragged down to their standards is the more likely result as is happening at a rapid rate in the USA and what goes in the USA,,there goes the West and the UK with the Blair clone ( who was a Thatcher clone) Cameron wedded to the US as he was.

This is a type of fantasy beloved of the ITKs of the world.

The reality is that those shiny Apple products which are seductively covetable even by me (typing this on my new Ipad) is made in a factory with slave wages where Chinese workers commit suicide because of the conditions. Those conditions will not change because there are a billion more peasants waiting in the wings and one or ten less to feed isn't a problem..just a mess to be cleaned up by cheap cleaners.

As this process will accelerate, what is needed are some extremely intelligent leaders (politicians) at the top who recognise rapid change (progress) requires re-adjustment on a massive scale.

What we get is from Thatcher / Reagen / Blair /Cameron is a set of blinkered idealogues who worshipped unregulated "market reform" and "progress" like a religion where everything will fall into place and problems will be solved and along the way you choose a few enemies to blame failures (debt) upon...preferably those who are powerless..welfare mums etc.

That diverts from the fact they now are anti-capitalists as example by bail out capitalist entities like banks which should have been left to collapse..but never forget to attack the welfare mums and basically accuse them as being the root of all evil ( Daily Mail/Express/Sun helps here).

Deliberately de-educate them...as US/UK has for several decades as there is no need for educated people (what for ?)

Sadly StillinEspana .. sitting in sunny blue skies, as I do here, can give a false impression that all is well in the world....,

2 arch Capitalists agree with me..Warren Buffet and George Souris ..that all is not well and Fascism beckons..for what I outline is fascism.

next lecture...by the Che Guervaar memorial tree on Hampstead Heath.

You STILL dont get it, do you, veritas ???

Whilever some people (the something-for-nothings) want the cheapest possible product, then jobs in affluent markets HAVE TO disappear to make a cheaper product overseas.

You cant earn top dollar here, and then demand a tee shirt (from Primark) for £2 ... if tee shirts are only worth £2 we have to go somewhere where they can make them for £2 !!!

THEY GOT WHAT THEY ASKED FOR !

one fantasises that politicians are inplace to manage social change and as usual, one is disaapointed.

I link to this article How the Googlization of Television Will Destroy High Wage, Union Hollywood in support of Vertitas' argumentation, but ITK will certainly think that the destruction of unions is a good thing.

"Google dominates Internet advertising, with 44.1% of the $113 billion per year global online advertising market, but it's quietly gunning for control of the even larger television advertising sector. As Robert Kyncl, a senior manager at Google's YouTube operation, said in a recent New Yorker interview, "[T]his industry [i.e. TV] is worth three hundred billion dollars, worldwide, and we hope to see value shifting hands."

"Value shifting hands" sounds like a feisty challenge to entrenched interests, but in practice it's likely to mean one more step in dismantling the middle class in this country. In industry after industry in the last forty years, we have seen "value shifting hands" from working families into the hands of corporate shareholders promoting "globalization" or the next "disruptive technology."
(...)
The entertainment industry has led U.S. exports precisely because of the high production values of the U.S. entertainment product, which local overseas producers could not match. There is a tight-knit community of craftspeople in the Hollywood system involved in everything from set design to editing that continue to outcompete low-wage entertainment sectors around the world.

But the real-time advertising models promoted by Google for the television industry will require incredibly short-term horizons for all entertainment productions and encourage the same kind of low-wage, low-skill models of production we've seen in so many other deunionized industries. Once deskilled, many of those production jobs will likely go overseas as so many other jobs have before."

I do !

They priced themselves out of jobs ... by demanding unrealistic paymenys which would not support the cost of manufacture (in other words people bought overseas goods - as they were cheaper - and generally better !)

If you dont like it ... set up an alternative !

NO ONE forced Google to enter the market - they saw an opportunity.

The whingers who complain about Google (and the like) are the same ones who pioneered downloading and destroyed an entire industry (the something-for-nothing brigade)!!

Entrepreneurs take risks ... may fail ... no one owes them success.
We buy - we are not forced to !

What is the difference between Google and the Stasi ?

Google only need 3000 staff while the Stasi had 250,000 to do the same job

I'm recommending daily punishments for you in the re-education camp.

you are indeed correct ITK but as JK points out..the Mirror Group is sacking 40$ of staff.

Westpac the Oz bank..one of the largest in the world is sacking nearly 600 staff (profits this year- $6B in cash)

as I point out (brillaintly)..Google do with 3000 staff what the Stasi did with 250K..for a small european country while Google is a worldwide mega corp.

these are the realities...but what is the solution to all those laid off people (most will be over 35 ..almost unemployable).

I see few governments anywhere tackling this except China which Is Commie with a limited and strictly controlled capitalist sector.
