Stalking is very much an invented crime, I know from my own experience. The very term itself ...'stalking'...is derived from the United States and in most cases doesn't exist or is in the mind of the supposed victim.

I was charged with stalking offences after mailing a half dozen letters to a gentleman I knew well. None of those letters contained anything that could be construed as threatening, I was merely writing to him to express my illness at the time, which was mainly physical.

My letters were taken in the wrong vein and I was seen as being a 'stalker'.

I was even accused of actively stalking him as he attended a wedding service at a church some ten miles away from where I was at the time.

The local paper dubbed me the 'Picnic Stalker' as I was seen by a friend of his 'enjoying a picnic' near his home. The fact was the picnic took place some twenty miles away, but unfortunately such testimony coupled with letters meant I ended up within the confines of a police cell and then a court room.

In court I was accused of having actively followed him in a supermarket. This was nonsense. I arrived down the aisle of a supermarket and the long tall gimp of a man was in front of me...how was that stalking? If anything he was stalking me.

Lunatics are a different matter. Lunatics will burgle, rape, pillage and harass people.

What is needed is a definition in law as to what is acceptable and what is not...what is not needed are crimes devised by someone whom has seen too many late night American movies.

In one statement my accuser said 'I heard him playing a flute whilst my friends heard it too and saw him sat upon a large cushion...enchanted I followed his sound ...and then was disgusted as I saw his bare behind retreat through thick undergrowth..'

I played a flute just once, when we were friends, and the fact he admitted I was retreating speaks volumes. And why was he 'enchanted'...? Bloody lunatic!
