TOPIC: Public Transport

Public Transport 12 Years, 2 Months ago
It really is getting worse and worse, isn't it? We're supposed to be using it more often, so why leave it to deteriorate in this way? Last week I took a so-called 'non-stop' service to London Liverpool Street and the train died 3/4 of the way there and we were just kicked out and told to find our own way to London. Today, traumatised by that, I went via King's Cross - another so-called 'nin-stop' service. Sure enough, after being obliged to stand up all the way, the points were down 3/4 of the way there and we were kicked off at Potters Bar, of which I have no knowledge at all, and had to wait 50 minutes for a train to come (or 2 hours if you trusted the electronic timetable). I've got to get to London again next week - I honestly dread it. It should be so easy in 2012, but it's like someone just invented the damned service.

Don't get me started on Liverpool Street. It stinks of piss and you know why because people don't want to pay to go for a slash and who can blame then ?

Public transport is a great idea until you realise when using it, that its usually populated with other people. Most of whom are usually rude, loud, smelly, germ ridden etc and don't get me started on the rolling stock!

I hate people listing to music on their phones with bad quality, giggling girls, chavs, people who have problems you have to listen to them, screaming kids, people eating loudly, train guards who can't speak English, broadsheets scattered on seats and smelly people who always sit next to you. This is all I can think of I bet there's more.

Angel talking about germ ridden people imagine them going to the games and you have sit next to them again more germs lingering, then going home by train your going to stink and have more greasy hair then your local drunk.

One thing that never fails to amaze me is that when an announcement is being made, most people continue shouting on their phones and chatting to each other and it's almost impossible to make out what's being said. When the train has come to a halt you'd think even these idiots would want to know what's happening, but apparently they don't!

The other thing that annoys are the displays that estimate how long the train will take to arrive at the station. Many a time I have stood watching as the '2 mins' is displayed for 10 minutes. To be honest when in London I prefer the expense of a black cab for short jorneys - or walk.

That is the most annoying I had to find the ticket master to repeat what was said but those idiots were moaning as they didn't know what to do. I also hate that rail replacement bus I was in Hertfordshire for the week and it was nightmare there and a nightmare back it's the 21st century, still our transportation is a mess over priced, over crowded and is it suitable for the Olympics shit no.

Only people who make it to games are locals and Fat Cats with the limos.

This topic has started a debate !!!

My pet gripe with railways is that (for terrorism reasons) they have removed all the rubbish bins so you have nowhere (except the floor) to deposit rubbish. What a message that sends out to visitors !

I usually hold onto rubbish until I can find a bin but its not always practical, is it?

re buses ... as the Peak District is a huge tourist attraction (and we want to keep cars out !!!) the public transport system is good and makes sense, in that buses usually "connect" with each other making journeys possible.

My cab driver - a very nice little chap - was telling me that drivers have yet to be told anything about pick up and dropping points for Olympic events and areas, and nothing yet seems planned. All a bit frightening.

This is why France should of won the bid they so organised, this Olympics going to be remembered for the wrong reasons, I don't think cabbies won't know till the opening day when as Britain been good at Olympics all the athletes are stoned anyway.

The fact "you don't get it" says it all. We've had no snow itk, and if we did we'd be able to cope unlike some!
