I've told you over and over again, its NOT the government's job (sorry about the pun !) to find work for people.
They have already expanded a great deal of money in education etc ... if the simpletons have wasted that its their fault entirely.
Those with talent and skills will always be in demand.
you have your idea of what a government does and I have mine.
Tories, Labour and industry agrees with me.
sounds like you are an anarchist, or a teabagger

As for supporting local industry, did you ever have the misfortune to own a new Morris Marina?
Ah ! ... so you have experienced the skills of Red Ken and his union fellows at (now defunkt) British Leyland !!!
Oh dear ITK,how many times will you get this one wrong?...it's Red Robbo ...but the real problems at BL weren't the unions, but bad management.
The problems at BL lay mostly with those on the production line IA. They constructed unreliable products that were a national joke. Allegro, Princess, Maxi, I could go on.
Angel I grew up round the corner from the factories at Longbridge, and at the risk of perhaps having misunderstood your point will beg to differ.
The workers didn't help of course with their strikes etc,but when the product you make is frankly 'crap',and the tools you use are badly produced etc you have to lay blame elsewhere...ie those making the decisions in the first place.
