The Punch and Judy Man is utterly superb.

Why couldn't Hancock see his talent? I suppose that is the curse of depression for you.

Gosh, too many B&W movies to mention. Any of Preston Sturges', Ernst Lubitsch's, Orson Welles', Billy Wilder's, Hitchcock's, Fritz Lang's and John Ford's, It's a Wonderful Life, Casablanca, most of Cary Grant's from the 1930s/1940s, so many. But I don't rate movies just in terms of one aspect - the great art that came from old German black and white movies was the ability to disguise the lack of much scenery with light and shadow. Murnau was a genius for that and Hollywood copied it well. But there are some nice-looking black and white movies that are otherwise dull and flawed. The same goes for colour ones. They've got to work on all levels.
