TOPIC: the A4e debacle

According to Cameron's poll rating very few agree with you !
They can see that this government is doing SOMETHING to sort out Labour's (constant) problems.

Constantly chucking money at people who will not get out of bed is NOT the answer (we've done that already, by investing 50K+ in their education so far).

Not everyone .... just the vast majority (esp when they say "I've not worked for ten years - there are no jobs!)"

PS - Did you see the recruiting adverts for trainee train drivers in the Metro ? 53K OTE.

you are right to mention education but that is another big problem.

30% of Americans now have a Bachelors degree yet they can't find a job. Education is simpling churning people through a system and they are coming out the other end having learnt little that is off use ( escpecially in my case..have never used one single thing I learnt at school...found every job by myself and survived all my life..but I'm a born hustler)

schools have become child minding centres.

one for ITK to debate :

www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/fe...-aid-corporate-power

it's very scary that this is even discussed by sane people.

Facism at it's very best and coming to a country near you soon.

Get 2 degrees !
You cant beat staying ahead of the opposition !!

(of course you could always lie on the couch and see how much more employable that makes you?)

Education is simpling churning people through a system and they are coming out the other end having learnt little

Scrap education (for the majority)
Save HUGE amounts of money !!

Bring back the 11+ (and regular tests after that) - what is the point of wasting further money on people who have failed everything so far???

I agree with you there ITK. You leave school at 16 but when you finish they try to make young people do basic skills, which is a waste a time I never did them told them I finished school with GCSE's now you want me to do them again to please The Government I said to my job adviser, she took me off the program and find me my first job in Tesco.

one for you ITK-

Therese Rein, the wife of 'left' politician Kevin Rudd who just lost a leadership challenge in Oz is the owner of Ingeus Ltd, one of the three employment agencies caught up in the jobs for no pay scandal ( as in A4e)

she capitalized on right wing PM John Howard's transfer of job placements from government to private hands (copied by the UK) and is now worth around $100M.

who says unemployment doesn't pay ?

Bring back National Service for the ones who can't be bothered to get off their arses and look for a job.

Keeps them off the streets and instills much needed discipline into the youths of today.

It will never happen though, too many 'do-gooders' who would prefer to handle them with kid gloves.

Ingeus is also a major beneficiary of the UK Govt's 'Work Programme'alongside A4E.

A minor blip !

I was referring to the 21st of Jan results - when the Tories were 5% in front - and they will soon be again now the loony Unions have threatened to disrupt the Olympics !

No wonder Millipede looked flustered on the news !
(I have to read his body language as I cant understand a word he says through his nose).

Over the past 6 weeks or so UK Polling Report have shown a consistent Labour lead of around 1- 2% in their poll of polls. These include both Labour and Tory leads depending on the latest poll, but the aggregate is still (just) remaining in Labour's favour.

Tonight's IPSOS/MORI poll shows a much larger 6-point Labour lead, but what I always like about UK Polling Report is that it is balanced and points out that such results may well be outliers bucking the trend.

Key words "over the past 6 weeks"

Going back to IA's stats - the same stats show a virtually continuous Tory lead from early 2007, apart from a few minor blips in the last few weeks.

And, as the Government is TWO parties, is it not also true that the combined poll ratings of both the Tories and LibDems - in both your and IA's stats - ALWAYS exceed loony Labour ?

You can look at stats in many ways, david.

That's not actully true. Until Cameron's temporary rise after his EU veto, Labour had regularly been showing leads of bewteen 4-6 points for much of the second part of last year.

You're right that there are many ways of looking at statistics, and that is one reason why I like ukpollingreport. It encourages those who commentto rise above the politics of 'my party is in the lead so I am right', and chief commentator Anthony Wells, altho from YouGov himelf, also probes much further into the questions behind the questions, and the methodologies of the different polling organisations concerned.

I have no party political point to make here, I just thought the ukpollingreport site and its analyses might make an interesting read for posters here.
