I'm always wary of these claims of millions in aid to foreign countries.

9 times out of 10 it turns out that most of the money actually stays in the donating country and goes to private corporations , government employees and so on - who provide goods or services to the other country.

reminds me of the hysteria Murdoch's Oz newspapers built up about Aboriginals getting hundreds of millions in "aid' to the point people were convinced they got free cars and houses and so on. Something like 5% of the money actually reached the blacks and the rest went to pay civil servants.

A real newspaper should investigate (whatever happened to that ?) and find out how the money is spent..much better story.

They are a British territory, and so are under the protection of the Crown (in theory).

On older-style British passports (not the EU style ones) it actually used to say on the first page ....

"Her Majesty demands that the holder of this passport be allowed to travel without hindrence (etc)"

demands ! I often used to wonder what would happen if I was "hindered" ?
