Oscars 12 Years, 2 Months ago
Delighted that the two big winners were The Artist and Hugo with five each - and Meryl Streep Best Actress.

But a reminder - when you go to see them (if you haven't yet) do make sure you watch Hugo in 3D.

And if you haven't seen Doubt (well worth seeing) - the short scene between Meryl and Viola Davis - is one of the finest acting scenes of all time.

And I repeat my other tip... do watch The Guard.

Streep is the woman of 2012 up to now. But what on earth has happened to Billy Crystal? He looks like a mannequin now.

One day someone will make a great movie of my novel Bible Two instead of stealing the plot and characters (like Mannequin did).

Nobody specific FC but I was involved in heavy meetings to buy the rights of my novel - I walked out (too much cocaine made the executives talk rubbish) so they simply stole the plot and characters (even the names) and adapted it badly to turn it into a movie called Mannequin.

Oh that Mannequin!! Circa 1987...and possibly one of the worst films I've ever seen. I believe Starship's 'We Built This City' featured...awful movie.

Back on topic - can you imagine the reaction if, after Meryl's speech, they had run my short Brits 1990 segment with Maggie? It would have brought the house down. If you didn't see the link to it on the Tipsheet thread about the Brits... here it is...

Mannequin could not be anymore 80's could it ? I hated that Hollywood character so out of place and unnecessary slowed the film right down. The opening song is ruined by sound effects by Belinda Carlisle, no FC it was Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now it it, was bad movie was it a flop ?

Finally saw Hugo today (in 3D)..enjoyable but can't say it was a memorable film.

I quite liked the more subtle use of 3D and the 2 children were excellent but I think Sasha Baron Cohen saved the day.

also convinced me I don't need a 3D TV at home..much more fun going to a cinema were you won't be distracted as I would at home..by the cat and so on.

I was round my mates and watched the Drive Angry in 3D and I can't watch too much 3D as it gives me migraines I don't feel it adds much to films. People say it gives you depth and makes it more realistic I can't see it personally and not a huge fan of CGI.

Will Titanic add anything new in 3D ?
