TOPIC: Leveson 1st March
#82692
Leveson 1st March 12 Years, 2 Months ago
Police again and interesting if only for those prepared to examine detail but the big question continues - the Inquiry needs to look at successful media/police collusion (whether good or bad) instead of only the unsuccessful ones (however distressing).

Stitching up Chris Jeffries DIDN'T WORK. If it had worked, the Inquiry would not be examining the method used.

Is it just me or does Yates of the Yard remind others of Hugh Laurie in a Black Adder sketch?

Yates very very slippery - Jay QC very good.

Lucy Panton's name crops up - a name I suspect will crop up a great deal more in the following weeks; she was on The People during my initial time and wrote several very fictitious stories; then she moved to the News of the World.

I believe she has suspect relationships in many areas.

A name to be watched.

Quote from Yates in reply to a question as to whether The Ivy is an expensive restaurant - "all restaurants in London are expensive".

Sort of sums Yates up.

So where is Barry George? His case is a classic example and it WORKED...to the degree that even after he's been cleared there are those who still believe he's guilty. Or is Barry George too ugly and too stupid to warrant being heard? That frightful monstrosity Kay Burley of Sky News even ran to the press claiming George 'stalked' her after she interviewed him following his release.

Yates is SO slippery - his defence is by dodging the question by pretending that it's different from what it was.

"Wasn't this important?" asks Jay. "I had bacon and eggs for breakfast" answers Yates.

Or rather "I can absolutely assure you without a shadow of doubt that I had bacon and eggs for breakfast and anyone who says to the contrary is lying".

Now Leveson himself is losing his patience with Yates who is coming through really really badly. The man is clearly an evasive liar.

the good old days of a lavish lunch paid for by the media ended at least 10 years ago. Now you are lucky to get a coffee and bun from them and even then, they must get a receipt.

Let alone lunch at the Ivy
