Getting really fond of Salvo and hoping it works out with Livia.

I'd be happy if a channel showed the best of every country's TV every night.

The beauty of these foreign shows, for me, is that they illustrate very well several national characteristics. Salvo is very Italian in all the best ways - Italy is one of my favourite places - as is Denmark (my favourite Scandinavian nation) and Holland (surely there's a good TV show from there please BBC4).

You get to see the minutiae of daily life if the shows are good. Though Montalbano is no Killing (those Danish shows were stunning television on every level), what both series share is a terrific view of life in their respective places.

Anyone know any North African TV series worth watching?

My Saturday fix of guilty pleasure - another delightful episode tonight - I rushed back from a Thai dinner with Bean to catch it!

I'm so enjoying this Saturday treat; it's not great TV though it's pretty good but it is SO Italian and I adore that country and I'm getting a man crush on Salvo.
